Santa Monica represents a false hope for something better. Basically he's talkin about a girl who left him because she was coaxed away by the thought of something better...

herdarkesthell: "And when she said Don’t you wish you were dead like me" The girl is the one who says that line...it's not about him.

Besides a sweet intro. and riff, the song is gripping. "She fills my bed with gasoline" Wow, that's a great analogy. TOADs songwriting is top-notch rock.

This is probably one of my favorite songs & I love TOAD. I'm not quite sure of the exact meaning, but "nothing lasts forever" seems to work for me...

To me this song is about taking things for granted, then leaving everything behind. When you leave it all behind you realize how lucky you are to have it and how much you need it. Thats just me tho

I agree with the 'nothing lasts forever' theory. They have this and a few other TOAD songs on the vg Indigo Prophecy, and this is my fave.

she fills my bed with gasoline. kinda like.. she's out to hurt him. at least thats what i think. i don't really see the girl as this heartless bitch. i think that she said it was over because she was fed up with herself and didn't really feel good enough and had no feelings or emotions. "don't you wish you were dead like me" and decided the best decision was to call it quits.

Sad song, decently performed, but I've heard better... "I am still living with her ghost, lonely and dreaming of the west coast." Enough said!

The only thing I do't get is what does "don't you wish you were dead liek me?" means?
