Artist: They Might Be Giants
Song: She's an Angel
Album: They Might Be Giants

Verse 1: ( Only a bass playing B )
I met someone at the dog show
she was holding my left arm
but everyone was acting normal
so I tried to look nonchalant
We both said I really love you
the Shriners loaned us cars
we raced up and down the sidewalk
twenty thousand million times

Pre Chorus:
A E B A E B A
Why did they send her over anyone else? how should I react?
E B A E B A
these things happen to other people - they don't happen at all in fact

Chorus:
E B
When you're following an angel does it mean you
A Abm B
have to throw your body off a building
E B
somewhere they're meeting on a pinhead
A G#m B E
calling you an angel calling you the nicest things
B A
I heard they have a space program
E B
when they sing you can't hear - there's no air
B A
sometimes I think I kinda like that and
E B
other times I think I'm already there

Verse 2: ( Only a bass playing a B )
Gonna ask for my admission
gonna speak to the guy in charge
the secretary says he's on another line -
can I hold for a long long time?
I found out she's an angel
I don't think she knows I know
I'm worried that something might happen to me
if anyone ever finds out

Pre Chorus:
A E B A E B A
Why Why did they send her over anyone else? how should I react?
E B A E B A
these things happen to other people - they don't happen at all in fact

Chorus:
E B
When you're following an angel does it mean you
A Abm B
have to throw your body off a building
E B
somewhere they're meeting on a pinhead
A G#m B E
calling you an angel calling you the nicest things
B A
I heard they have a space program

when they sing you can't hear - there's no air

The phrase "living on a pinhead" refers to the question, supposedly debated in the Middle Ages, of "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?"

I will admit, this is the song that got me into tmbg, by way of the B. Lee Band, but I really do think they might be giants do the song better. The slow beat and lower energy reflect the questioning and doubting in the song. should you throw your body off a building? this isn't the kind of question you deal with in a hurry and then move on.

This song seems to be about children in love. The self consciousness of a girls attention. The line "But everyone was acting normal so I tried to look nonchalant." comes to mind. also what can this mean:"The Shriners loaned us cars. We raced up and down the sidewalk twenty thousand million times"? The Shriners are well known for donating toys to children (as well as all of the other great things they do, medical care for hadicapped etc.) I see children racing toy cars up & down the sidewalk twenty thousand million times. Not adults, who would A: drive on the road & B:not have a car loaned to them by the Shriners. And C: not do anything 20,000,000,000 times.

Great song. Although I think I like the cover that the Bruce Lee band does better then this real one just because it's more high energy.

City of Angels was actualy a remake of an older movie called Wings of Desire, same plot, beter actors.
