Song: Motorcycle Drive By
Artist: Third Eye Blind
Album: Third Eye Blind on Elektra records
Lyrics and music: Stephen Jenkins
Tabbed by: Angell Tsang "a-cute-angle@mailexcite.com"
I tabbed this as accurately as I could. It's an awesome song,
especially when it kicks into the distortion. I love the drums
in this song too. I think they should release this one as their
next single. There's no real verse/chorus in the song, and I
couldn't decide what was, so I'll leave it to you to decide...
Acoustic guitar in the beginning...

C
Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by,
A7sus G6
The cigarette ash flies in your eyes, And you don't mind, you smile,
Fmaj7 C
And say the world, it doesn't fit with you.
I don't believe you, You are so serene.
Amaj7 G6sus
Careening through the universe, Your axis on a tilt,
Fmaj7
you're guiltless and free,
C
I hope you take a piece of me with you,
Amaj7
And there's things I would like to do, that you don't believe in,
G6sus Fmaj7
I would like to build something, but you never see it happen,
C A7sus
And there's this burning, Like there's always been,
G6 Fmaj7
I've never been so alone, And I've,
C/G* (distorted strumming)
I've never been so alive,
(strum) Amaj7 G6sus F
Amaj7 F
and there's this burnin', uh huh, there is this burning,
C/G
yeah, yeah, yeah...
Where's the soul. I want to know, New York City is evil.
Amaj7
The surface is everything, but I could never do that,
G6sus
Someone would see through that.
C/G Amaj7
And this is the last time, We'll be friends again.
G6sus F
and I'll get over you, you'll wonder, Who I am.
C/G Amaj7
And there's this burning, just like there's always been,
G6sus F
I've never been so alone, alone, And I've, and I've, I've never been so
C (back to picking the intro) Fmaj7
alive.......................so alive.
Outro:
C
I go home to the coast. It starts to rain,
Amaj7
I paddle out, On the water, Alone, Taste the salt and taste the pain.
G6sus C
I'm not thinking of you again, Summer dies and swells rise,
Amaj7
The sun goes down in my eyes, See this rolling wave,
G6sus
Darkly coming to take me,
Fmaj7 G6sus Fmaj7
Home, And I've never been so alone, And I've never been so alive.

| This song has to be the story of this year...It's quite interesting how closely I can relate to this song. Even though I don't typically listen to music like 3EB I can't resist loving them for their beautiful lyrics. My favorite line in this song is...I go home to the coast, it starts to rain, I paddle out on the water, alone, taste the salt, and taste the pain I'm not thingking of you again, summer dies and swells rise, the sun goes down in my eyes, see this rolling wave, darkly coming to take me away...so beautiful. | |

| Agh this song reminds me of my ex-b/f. i moved to Fl. last summer. well, right now im in NY and i visited him and realized i'm still so in love w/ him. Well, i went to his house, having no idea what to say, heh, i slept on his couch when i went to visit him, and i knew i couldn't have him back. i felt so alive, yet, alone when i'm around him. And i know i'll go home to the beaches of florida and just chill on the sand watching the sun set and think of him This is what i means to Stephan: "That song started as a journal entry made on a trip to New York to visit a girl I used to go out with. Needless to say, the trip didn't work out. I went back to San Francisco and went surfing which is what the last verse is about. The main idea in the song is that sometimes when you're really lonely, you really feel alive and you feel like you know who you are. Kevin and I both ride motorcycles...I currently have a 1972 Triumph 750 Tiger Twin. It's got more power than God" | |

| this is one song which never tires my ears - it's.. oh.. ('awkward smile' seems to have already explained what I think too).. it's simply beautiful in a lot of ways. A song which can go straight to your heart ... a serene outpouring of pathos. | |

| i agree with elevendy. noboby i know likes this band except for myself and one of my friends. how cheap is that? i guess nobody else knows what theyre missing out on cause this is by far the best band ever. there songs are so deep and reflective on peoples lives. and the lead guitar is the best ive ever heard. i cant think of another band that can do that with the guitar. | |

| This song is one song I absolutley love to listen to. I can relate to this in my own life. Stephen is a mastermind. I think this band needs a little more respect from the world. This is one of the few CDs I can listen to from beggining to the end over and over and never tire from it. | |
