For the rest of the second verse and the chorus the bassline is the
same as the intro bassline (I think). That's all I've got so far.

If this transcription is correct then the lead parts are probaly based
on the G-major/C-lydian scale.

i agree with wonderer, though i'm two years late. this is definately a summer song. there is nothing like flying down the highway with the windows down and tunes like this one rolling out. summer, no doubt.

I think this song is getting over a girl. Someone he really cared about, was in love with, which had never happened to him before. He misses her, but he hurt her beyond repair and they keep growing farther apart. "Like when you found me out for the fake I am So easy you see through me. What do you do to me to make me treat you so bad?" I think this song has a lot of regret and saddness "I think about it nightly how you opened up your life for me. Why are you still lonely?"

In the Beatles' song "Yer Blues", Lennon says: "My mother was of the sky, my father was of the earth" that is what I first thought of. Maybe it just means they are complete opposites.

I think this song is about drifing away from someone you loved in the past but you can't forget the great times you had with that person.

it's about someone holding onto a love, something that is not a normal characteristic of theirs. and the person is drifting away........

I never really thought all that hard about what this song means. I guess everyone else's ideas are good. But what I do know is that this is an excellent summer song. The reverberations at the start and the way they tweaked his voice makes me think of heat waves and things like that. I love listening to this song in the summer.

Is about a guy that falls in love maybe for the first time, I get that idea because of the part of "though I'm not the type who begs". But the girl left him, and he don't want to let go her memory, even if it hurts to hold so tightly to it. Is a bit ironic in some way... he just want to be close to her, but every day he is farther, everyday he loses her more. "So easy you look thorugh me" "like when you found me out, for the fake I am" those two parts of the song makes me think that she dump him because he was not real, and he was not himself.

I think this song is about thinking you are in love and finding out you never were. This person you thought you were crazy about isn't what you thought. You break up and you regret the way it happened. Ironically, I heard this for the first time a week before my boyfriend at the time told me "I am of the sky and you are of the earth and that's our problem." That does flavor my meaning for it.
