| no offense, but this is a site to ask/give yiour thoughts about the meanings of songs. not to talk about your boyfriend and when you are getting their cd. a lot of people have the same ideas of what this means as me. i see this song in two different ways. the first way is religious, just like harlequingurl said. Well basically, the guy is saved. So after he realizing his sins, he will discard his pride and sing and dance for the Lord. "Well I'm crying out "Wash my hands, these bloody hands, Lord" And I'll open my mouth and I'll sing Whoa-ho-ho-ho" - it's pretty much spelled out right there. I've been dancing on the tops of buildings At the top of my lungs I'm singing you a song Don't you leave me alone My bones were shattered My pride lay shattered Well, I'll trample my pride Until the whole world will dance with me. - talking about finding god and being rescued. dancing at the tops of buildings is a metaphor, meaning that they're showing their faith and that they believe. - "at the top of my lungs, i'm singing you a song" shouting that the person has faith and believes. singing is a way of showing affection in my eyes. so i tihnk this person means that they believe and don't care who knows it. - "my bones were shaddered, my pride lay shattered" this person was basically a mess. they were giving up on life. they didn't care anymore. - well, i'll trample my pride" they don't care about what anyone thinks, as long as God knows he believes and has faith. - "until the whole world dances with me" is determined on spreading faith and guiding people to God. Will not stop until everyone believes. wants to hlp everyone find hope and faith and be saved just like they were. And in the midst of this self-inflicted pain, I can see my beautiful rescue. - "and in the midst of this self-inflicted pain" they attempted suicide - "i can see my beautiful rescue" they found faith in God and were rescued. I've been dancing on the tops of buildings, With you. - God is with this person and they know it. they can feel his presence. i'm not very religious, so some of my comments may sound off. sorry. now the other way i see it is a guy is in love with a girl and can't think of a way to say it to her, so he writes a song about it. I've been jumping from the tops of buildings For the thrill of the fall, ignoring sound advice and any thought of consequence My bones are shattered My pride is shattered And in the midst of this self-inflicted pain, I can see my beautiful rescue. -"i've been jumping from the tops of buildings" they're in love an feel like they're capable of everything. maybe even flying [?] - "ignoring sound advice and any thought of consequence" they can't help but be in love with this person. they aren't worried about getting their heart broken. - "my pride is shaddered" the person is in love and needs to let this girl/guy know it. they don't care if they sound silly, they just need to let them know. - "i can see my beautiful rescue" the person saved them in a way. they made them really appreciate life. they're in love. I'm falling more in love With every single word I withhold. I'm falling more in love With every single word you say. I'm falling head over heels for you. - it's pretty self explanatory. I've been dancing on the tops of buildings, With you. - by the end of the song, the other person gets the message.and they're in love with them, too. and they're going to let the other person [and everyone else] know it. i guess you could interpret the song in a lot of different ways. again, please excuse my ignorance of religion and faith and such. hope all this helps. :] | |

| Everyone turns music made by christians into bible verses. I think people read into this a little too deep.. I honestly beleive it's to a girl he loves. The wash my hands line is dwarfed by the "falling more and more" refrain. It seems to be so romantically phrased. | |

| I heard this song about a hundred times before i realized he wasn't singing to a girl he had fallen in love with, but he's actually singing to God. This line "Wash my hands, these bloody hands, Lord" tells me that. And if you think about it. it makes sense. | |

| I've had this song on repeat basically ever since I discovered it. The lyrics and the sound goes so well together. It's so peaceful and it really sounds like he's singing from experience (about the love part, not the jumping off buildings). Definitely one of my top 5 favorite songs. | |

| i think this prov plays it safe on both sides sometimes... so it goes out to all audiences. anyway, i think it's definitely a spiritual song. to RustyJ, yeah it sounds pretty romantic, but spiritually people fall in love with the Lord and they aren't afraid to phrase it in such a way. i think it's definitely a song about falling in love with Jesus. | |

| i definitely agree that this is a very profound love song, even though the lyrics were kind of off...good work though, its hard to get lyrics exact to any song. my interpretation is its to someone he loves. I'm falling more in love with every single word you say/ I've fallen head over heels for you -- Pretty self-explanatory "I've been dancing from the tops of buildings" -- He's so amazed at this feeling of being in love that he just wants to sing and dance relish in it "I've been dancing from the tops of buildings, with you" -- Same as above. "Don't you leave me alone / My bones were shattered / My pride lay shattered / Well, I'll trample my pride until the whole world will dance with me" -- he doesn't care what anyone else thinks of him now that he is in love, and before he was a total wreck and...i don't think they're a christian group...nor that this song's about god especially if he's talking about falling more in love...or that would be kind of weird. | This is so me and my boyfriend. It reminds me so much of him. When we first met, I was pretty miserable. I was at a new school, missed my friends like crazy, and was having a really rough time. I didn't make it any easier for myself by not talking and not trying to make friends. Then I was forced to talk to him while we worked together on something, and he became, in so many ways, my escape from the rest of the school. I love him so much now, I can't imagine what would have happened if I hadn't changed schools. | |
