Lyrics:
Around it comes and round it goes
Around it swims around my head
All of us are lonely souls and all of us get left for dead
How come i always try to cross
even though i know the bridge is burning?
How come i take it when i know that you fake it?
I tell myself i'm leaving
The lies that i believe are simple
The lies that i believe are true
The lies that i believe are so beautiful
The lies that i believe are true
All the flings and the flaws
Let me cling to someones clause
All of us are lonely souls and all of us mend broken laws
Even though i know the bridge is burning?
How come i take it when i know that you fake it?
I tell myself im learning
The lies that i believe are simple
The lies that i believe are true
The lies that i believe are so beautiful
The lies that i believe are true
Everyone uses, everyone abuses
Nobody take the blame
Everyone uses, everyone abuses
Ain't it such a shame
The lies that i believe are simple
The lies that i believe are true
The lies that i believe are so beautiful
The lies that i believe are true

| Well, after posting the lyrics I thought there would be a ton of responses, but only one so far. This is my all-time favorite song by any artist. 6 minutes of pure awesomeness =) I love to put this song on and just crank the volume (but only once in a while... gotta save the ears). The opening electric riff is mind-blowing at high volume. Gotta make sure you have good speakers or headphones. As for meaning, it's obviously about someone who's in denial and clings to lies, even though he knows they're nothing more than lies. It's in the context of relationships, but I don't think Ian meant for it to be very specific. The lyrics can cover a number of situations and you can apply them however you want. "The lies that I believe are true": every time I hear that I think it's absolutely brilliant. Paradox of the century =) And what about that growly bridge. I absolutely love it, and it's so true. And that soaring solo... Thornley isn't as big on solos as many other bands, but I can't think of a more perfect way to end the album. If you haven't bought the album yet, you owe it to yourself to get it. 12 songs, and not a single skipper. If you like good, solid hard rock you can't be disapointed. | |

| It took a while for this song to grow on me, but it has in a big way. After a few listens, the genius of this song became more evident. Proves that simple is sometimes better. | |

| After a Thornley concert I congradulated Ian on this song. He then went on to explain to me how this had always been a project for Big Wreck but they never got it down quite right. Anyways. Love the "Why do I always try to cross even though I know the bridge is burning" line. It's all about how he's trying to mend a past relationship despite all the hostility that he put into it. | |
