Three days grace was on tv the other day and they were talking about their songs and they explained that this song was about someone on drugs, telling someone else to get out of that sort of lifestyle before its too late, and he ends up like her.

pretty clearly about drug addiction and various people trying to convince him to get out while he can oh, and to help make more sense out of the lyrics, they should actually read: "If you want to get out alive.....oh-oh, RUN for your life." ie. don't start in the first place, which makes a ton more sense than "hold on for your life"

Yeah, the lyrics are wrong. It's "Run for your life"

Personally, I think this song is about people dying and giving him advice while they're on their deathbeds. They're fading away and all that jazz.

My fav part is the begining, it has the feeling of tragic love in it. That's just me though. I can relate this to personal issues (not about drugs) so i guess i have a different meaning for it than everybody else.

In reply to 3dg. If you actually listen to the rest of the album, you'll figure out that the whole album is about his druggie girlfriend who he loves, but can't stand all the things that come with it. First song of the Album. "It's All Over" states that "she" his girlfriend is getting high and it's bothering him. yadda yadda.. "Never Too Late" is saying that they've hit rock bottom and they'll find their way back up. But, "Pain" says he'd rather stay with her and try to help. Then.. in "On my Own" she tells him to go on his own. Then.. we get here. Where this "he" (unknown) and "she" his girlfriend are telling him to go run for his life, because staying here he would end up like her.

I also think this song is about drugs and the dangers associated with the lifestyle. And the part, "This is my last time she said As she faded away It's hard to imagine But one day you'll end up like me Then she said" Is someone in that life already and knows theres a better soul in him, and she tells him that he must get out while he can. And the fading away is naturally, the drugs. Well. It's the truth. Good Message. Great song. Great lyrics.

Aahh.. This is one of my favorite songs by them... I can definately see how it is about drugs... I would love to hear Adam say what this song is about, though...

The song sounds like a dream almost, with people talking to him that "fade away"...that's probably not it but it just reminds me of a dream or something, with the music and lyrics..

To vileacronymn : I think that the unknown "HE" refers to a close friend or father or something, giving him advice.

I think it has something to do with drug abuse and someone's taking over their life by them doing drugs and changing their views on life and stuff... like those above the influence commercials..they only did it because someone asked or told them not because they wanted to well at least thats what it means to me i don't know if its right but whatever think what you want

in reply to vileacronymn...the whole album is not about his gf. "Never too late" is about his friend who came up to him and told him that he wanted to end his life. But I definetly agree with 3dgfanatic. It doesn't technically have to be about drugs tho, it could be about murder or something or the other. But there's many different ways to look at is so w/e
