sorry, I meant "to be at peace," that makes a LOT more sense.

im surprised nobody said what i always thought this song was about. i think its actually a direct attack on people like doctors and medical researchers etc... "like using an axe to pull a sliver from your skin"- this is explaining the way stuff like aspirin and other anti-biotics work. while they kill the virus, they kill other parts of ur body with it. "to be at peace would be a sin and surely un-american"- people in the medical industry pretty much dont care how bad medicine really is for u, they just care about living the american dream- making as money as they can, even if its killing the patients.

I thought it was about drugs. The part where he says, "here's your new drug shoot it in the left eye feel it on the right side no it's not love though it sets up shop behind your ribcage building blood clots and black holes like using an axe to pull a sliver from your skin and they say this is medicine an overdose of oxygen a severed head as sedative to be at peace would be a sin and surely un-american i'm breaking" made me figure it wasa bout drugs.

i belive this song is a metophor about what society induces into our lives and how it overcomes our so called fredoms. rejecting these views would be un-american. this song lets me know that me know that i'm not standing in my corner by myself.

Iknow that someone said Thrice doesn't do drugs but that doesn't mean the song isn't abou it. In my point of veiw, they're talking about the misuse of it. 'Begging for a razor's kiss'. People use pain to releive other pains. They're saying that people are using drugs and things to make them feel better. 'Lift the veil, it's not medicine' is referring to how people think it cures their problems but it only makes more. Thats what I get from it.
