	I remember posting on this song some time ago...dunno what happened to it though. It seems that the speaker has reached the end of his life/sanity/etc and has no will to go on. He feels that all is lost, but he keeps getting reminders that it isn't. (...but in the distance, there appears a light) As the song progresses past the breakdown, he realizes that it was this light that saved him. He is now either alive and is given a new will to live, or he has died. But in his death, he has achieved a peace that is not possible on earth. As much as I'm going to hear people argue about it, this is one of the most Christian-sounding Thrice songs I've ever heard. Thrice may claim (yes, I have read the site) that they are not a Christian band, but the lyrics convey the attitude of one. Think of who writes most of the lyrics for Thrice. And think of his religious preference, if you will.

	Yeah well, Kneecromancer thinks he is a fucking Stanford writing scholar becasue he took a creative writing class as a freshman in high school. Well shit little man I got news for you; using big words doesn't make you special, ass. I can use intellectual words and still not know what the hell I am talking about. But I do know that you have no clue what the fuck you are talking about. You are a disgrace to the entire database of us songmeaning.net members. We come here to discuss what each song means to US, not tell others what the song should mean. There is no right or wrong here. Each one of us has taken different routes on our journeys of life and those diverse experiences make certain songs stick out more then others to each one of us for different reasons. This is a haven where we can come and share those events with other people who have come across similar trials in life. So before you try to cover us with your meaningless, teeny-bopper, juvenile phrases of jumbled words and attempts at being "better." Just because you have met Dustin. That doesn't mean you are any better, many of us have also met him. I have too. I can just picture you meeting him, all I see is you with your jaw hanging and your outstretched ticket stub begging, pleading for an autograph. The same as every other person who ever meet a famous individual. They never have time to carry on an intelligent conversation with the member of the group they are always trying to explain how they are the band's biggest fan and trying to out do the person in front of them in the autograph line. They are people too you inconsiderate prick. Just talk to them like your mommy. They want to have conversations just like us, not about their band always, they have to live that band, help break the cycle. Talk about your underwear or something. Now I'll talk about what I THINK of the song. This is an incredible song. Dustin uses his voice as a powerful weapon to help us all answer the questions of "what are we here for?" "Are we more then just chance?" "What is our personal reason for living?" Emotion is a mighty force, we have it for more than just chance. We didn't just evolve into emotion. We were given a gift by something greater for something greater. Sometimes it may seem like a curse, but we have a wonderful prize with emotion. Something worth fighting for. What are we fighting for if we just happened to come across this gift. Have we been fighting in vein? Have we no real victories to toast? We are so much more than just face-less, name-less drones of corporate thinking. We are unique and talented inhabitants. We are the ultimate living thing, and we are here for a reason. 	this song is awesome...its good to listen to when you're havin a bad time, kinda gives you some hope "I want to fall, i want to burn like an ignorant craterless meterorite long ago I was derailed, long ago the mission failed, but in the distance there appears a light" dustin is a genius.

	this is now one of my favorite thrice song. but i can say that about anything thrice does. but this song definatly lifts me up. just the "in my darkest hour, the brightest light draws near to me," g makes me realize that if the situation is tough there will be something to get me threw it.

	no it doesn't automatically mean that, but it does make it very likely that a great deal of them are. in the life of someone who believes in god (not necessarily christian!), the struggle between their faith and their world can be the most dramatic and intense thing in their life. in songs of such intensity as this one by thrice, there is little else that they could be talking about. i'm actually really amazed. until i read thrice's lyrics at this site, i had no idea what they were about. i just couldn't make out what they were saying. :P now they are an infinitely better band to me.. i didn't know the subject matter was this mature.. ah god i want to listen to thrice now.......
