I stole the lyrics form a previous tab by Chris (thanks, hope you don't mind)
and slightly changed some of the chords.
intro Dm C Dm C
Verse 1:
F Am Dm
So much for the city, tell me that you'll dance to the end
F Am
Just tell me that you'll dance to the end
F Am Dm
Hey hey you're the monkees, people said you monkeyed around,
F Am
But nobody's listening now.
Chorus:
C F Dm G Em Am Em Am
Just don't go back to big sur, hanging around letting your old man down
C F Dm G F
Just don't go back to big sur, baby baby please don't go
G
Baby please don't go.
Verse 2:
F Am Dm
So much for the street lights, they're never gonna guide you home
F Am
No thet're never gonna guide you home
F Am Dm
Down at the steam boat show, all the kids start spittin'
F Am
I guess it didn't live up to the billing.
Chorus:
C F Dm G Em Am Em Am
Just don't go back to big sur, hanging around, letting your old man down

Just don't go back to big sur, baby baby please don't go

| I submitted this as The Thrills, but then SongMeanings.net changed it to The Thrills (Boston Rock 80s) and added The Thrills (Ireland 00s)....but placed this song under the 80s group. This should be moved to the current Irish Thrills. | |

| sounds like an older guy or a more sensible guy who has got a girlfriend. she wants to get away, to somewhere more lively and stuff (big sur) but he is basically saying that its all over-rated and he couldnt live up to their crazy youthful lifestyle. or maybe thats just me applying my break up from my last girl to every song i listen to. mwahaha! | |

| Big Sur is the name of one of Jack Kerouac's novels, the novel to follow On The Road. It is a very depressing book, much more of a downer than OTR. Just don't go back to Big Sur is a reference to that. | |
