Tuning down one full step: D, G, C, F, A, d
C Am
You show your age,
Em F
when you drown your rage.
C Am Em F
But i see past those laughter lines,
C Am
so baby, lets split tonight,
Em F
I got a tank full of gas till light.
C Am Em
Yeah we can drive for miles and miles
F C
But you just said,
Gm C
"Not for all the love in the world"
Gm Em
"Not for all the love in the world"
Am Dm C
Cause she didnt realize, now thats a lotta love
Pipe dreams fade,
and all the underdogs get laid.
Left your heart in the hands of a jugglin clown.
And so you crave recognition,
but the keys to the city went missing
People are all puzzles to be figured out
But you just said,
"Not for all the love in the world"
"Not for all the love in the world"
Cause she didnt realize, now thats alotta love
Oh Oh
I guess that everybody,
went to a better party, oh no
Not for all the love in the world
Not for all the love in the world
But she didnt realize, now thats a lotta love.

| Great lyrics, but I'm almost not sure that I believe that he could of written the chorus. Maybe he heard someone say "Not for all the love in the world, cause she didnt realize, now that's a lotta love", if he came up with it himself he's a genius though. | |

| Great song. I think that this song is about a guy who is in love with this girl but she doesn't feel the same, so basically rejection. He wants to be with her but she doesn't wanna be with him. He's offering all the love in the world, all the love he has to offer to her, but she doesn't realize that. | |

| Great song, and so easy to remember the words. I love belting out the chorus in the shower. I agree with what's been said it's about a girl who wouldn't love him "for all the love in the world" because she's been hurt before. | |

| I love this song. It is so beautiful and the video is really cool too. I think it is about a guy who knows this girl really well and loves her a lot too. But the girl has been hurt before and gets into these really bad relationships with other guys, so she can't trust him. So he sees her with all these other guys who hurt and use her, "and all the underdogs get laid." "Left your heart in the hands of a jugglin clown," meaning she leaves her heart at risk for these other guys. The guy is telling her he will be good to her and treat her right but since she has been hurt so much she can't accept, so she continues to get hurt because it is the only thing she knows. It is such a beautiful song. I love all of the Thrills songs a really talented band. | |

| Pipe dreams are hopes that we don't truly believe will happen. He hurt her badly and is trying to make amends, but she won't even hear him out. He underappreciates her and he realizes that (the keys to the city went missing), but she reads too much into things and just doesn't get that people sometimes do bad things without alterior motives. He knows her intimately (like how he knows that she just masks her anger with laughter) and realizes that even though she is pissed at him, she really can't mean the hurtful things she is telling him. | |

| hmm. my interpretation is that this song is about rejection. the woman in the song has been hurt in the past and has become jaded about love "Pipe dreams fade, / and all the underdogs get laid. / Left your heart in the hands of a jugglin clown." now that the singer is trying to open her up and asking for a chance, she says, "Not for all the love in the world." meaning she's given up on love and even all the love in the world isn't enough for her to put her heart on the line again. | |

| First of all I think he is saying he knows how she(?) really feels "I see past those laughter lines", and is also telling her how he can take her away from it all "so baby, lets split tonight, I got a tank full of gas to light, yeah we can drive for miles and miles". Then I believe he states he knows, she wants to be wanted, "so you crave recognition, but the keys to the city were missing" but she doesn't notice his offer. In the end I think he is saying that she moved on, "I guess that everybody, went to a better party" in the search for something better. | |

| this has been my favourite song ever for ages and ages. everytime i hear the start, with the big crash on the cymbol, i have to stop what i'm doing and listen to the whole song, and take in everything about it. It's about a guy who is telling a girl that she should be with him, that he knows her (I see past those laughter lines) she should come away with him (baby let's split tonight) but she's saying no, not for all the love in the world | |
