i like to think the something in the air is smoke and that the instigators and arms/ammo are joints. "we've got to get together sooner or later" and hang out.

classicrockgirl: Too bad Pete Townshend wasn't in the band. It was a band from England that consisted of Andy Newman (Keyboards), John "Speedy" Keene (Vocals, Drums), and Jimmy McCulloch (Guitars). McCulloch went on to be a guitarist for Paul McCartney's Wings in the mid-70s. McCulloch was only 16 years old when playing the guitar on this song. Pretty impressive! This song is from the movie "The Magic Christian" starring Peter Sellers, which starred Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr.

I first heard this song in almost famous when they were all singing it in the hotel. That isn't the only reason i happened to like this song though, the song itself is an excellent one. I like the message being sent in it also.

I think you'll find this is one of the greatest songs ever written. And magnifiko, given that this song was released in 1969/70 its more likely Tom Petty did a cover of it, although, having said that, i've never yet heard it in any of his work.

this song was released in 1969 off of the album Hollywood Dreams, Petty's version in 1993 off of Tom Petty's Greatest Hits album.

It's a wonder Al Gore didn't use this as the theme song to "An Inconvenient Truth". It would have worked so perfectly
