THURSDAY - WAR ALL THE TIME

tuning: Dropped D

Here's another fantastic song off of Thursday's breathtaking new album, War All the Time.
This is a surprisingly soft song, and my favorite. I also did this on one guitar,
because both parts are kind of murky, and it's hard to spot Guitar 2's role, though
there is one part on the Outro that is clear, and which I did tab. Enjoy.

Thursday has openly said they do not agree with the war, however this song is about a much more general subject but uses our current "War on terror" as a metaphor. War all the time is about the role conflict plays in all of our lives and how everything we do is about conflict rather than peace. Thursday uses the war our country has engaged in to symbolize this sort of conflict. Oh yeah, check their website, the top toolbar the farthest to the right has a link called "songs" and it is video footage of Geoff talking about what each song on war all the time means to him.

Geoff uses imagery of war and current wars to relate them to his feelings. Geoff wrote that he thought sad girl songs were cliche and this was he was of writing music in a totally new direction.

Even though I don't agree with the ideals of Thursday, I can acknowledge that they are a solid band and do an awesome live show.
