Waterfalls

Lonely mother gazes out of a window
Looking at a sun that she just can't touch
If at any time he's in a jam she'll be by his side
But he doesn't realize he hurts her so much
But all the praying just ain't helping at all
'Cause he can't seem to keep himself out of trouble
So he goes out and he makes his money the best way he knows how
Another body lying cold in the gutter.
CHORUS:
Don't go chasing waterfalls
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes like you used to
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
But I think you're moving too fast
Little precious has a natural obsession
For temptation but he just can't see
She gives him lovin' that his body can't handle
All that he can say is baby it's good to me
One day he stops and takes a look in the mirror
But he doesn't recognize his own face
His health is failing and he doesn't know why
Three letters took him to his final resting place.
CHORUS

| To answer livi's question...it kinda just plain tells you:he messed around with a chick with some kind of STD, got one himself, and died. Aint much to it. At least thats what i think. (and isnt sadomasochistic sex that freaky stuff with chains and torture and mess? i kinda dont think its about that...) | |

| This song touches me and means a great deal to me. I've had a lot of people in my life come and go from "chasing waterfalls". It's about taking the time and thinking about some of those big grown up chances we think about taking. Sometimes it's better to stick to the things that you know. | |

| Huh. I always figured the 'three letters' were referring to, possibly, 'XXX', or the typical letters found on something alchoholic.. The STD thing seems to fit a bit more, though. | |

| I've always liked this song and as the years went by I could see how right its words are. Sometimes you leave behind people that really care for you and you find yourself risking your life for no reason. This song reminds me of my own mistakes and it's actually too touching for me these days :( | |

| In addition to this i think Damaged is great also, That is also one of their best This was the first song that really got me into TLC. It is just so hard to believe still that Lisa is gone. I am glad they stuck with not getting another member. And to think that some compared Destiny's Child to the new TLC. DC doesn't even compare to TLC. | |

| This song reminds me of summer during middle school. Me and my friends stood around in our bathing suits singing with the video and dancing along. I love Left Eye's part and I hate when the radio cuts it off. It's the best part of the song!! I really love TLC because of the things they write about. They write about friends, love, society, being a woman. Songs about people trying to live life in the fast lane always touches me because I see it too often and I wish I could reach these people. RIP Left Eye Still can't believe you're gone :( | |

| theres a bit missing from the rap bit :S it goes "my only bleeding hope is for the folks who can't cope wit such an enduring pain that it keeps em in the pouring rain" and then later its actually "whos to blame for shootin 'caine into your own vein, what a shame u shoot and aim for someone elses brain". But yeah, its a great song!! | |

''His health is fading and he doesn't know why 3 letters took him to his final resting place'' Im not sure but when i read that it made me think the 3 letters are HIV? it would make sense but it #s just a guess | |

| This was the first pop song I ever remember liking. To me, it basically tells you not to rush life. So many people are in a rush to grow up and become incapable of making the right decision. Bascially I think it say to avoid getting into situations you aren't ready to handle. Whenever I hear this song I feel like a little kid again. I'm not really an R&B or rap person, but I love TLC. They are real, unlike a lot of other things. Whoever compared them to Destiny's Child was ridiculous. | |

| Hahaha- sado-masochistic sex. Yes, it's a very classy love song about two people beating the shit out of each other to get off. A girl he's having sex with has AIDS and he doesn't realize that's he's gotten it from her. He's prematurely aging from HIV, and it finally kills him. The first part is about a mother who can't help her son, and he deals drugs to make money. I'm not sure if "another body laying cold in the gutter" refers to him or his clients, though. It's a couple of vignettes about wanting more than you can handle and/or is good for you. | |
