Walk on the Ocean
by Toad the Wet Sprocket

any questions feel free to email me.
I checked out the other tab for this song but I'm pretty sure that
they aren't right. This sounds really good when you play it with
any version, even the ones with John Mayer.
Chords:(relative to capo4)
___G__C__A___Aslide___________D____D2___G1__G2__G3
e--3--3--0----0---------------2----3----3---3----3-|
B--3--3--2----2(slide to 3)---3----3----0---0----0-|
G--0--0--2----2---------------2----2----0---0----0-|
D--0--2--2----2---------------0----0----0---0----0-|
A--2--3--0----0---------------0----0----2---2----2-|
E--3--0--0----0--------------(2)--(2)---0---2----3-|
(C and G are actually called Cadd9 and Gadd9
durring the verses but for space I used C and G.)
Capo four
Try sliding and hammering up and down patterns for A G and D
and they all sound really cool.
G C G A G C G
We spotted the ocean at the head of the trail
A G C G D Aslide
where are we going, so far away?
G C G A G C G
Now somebody told me that this is the place
A G C G D A slide
Where everything's better, and everything's safe
(Chorus)
G1 G1,G2,G3 D D2 D A
Walk on the ocean Step on the stones
G1 G1,G2,G3 D D2 D A
Flesh becomes water Wood becomes bone
(Same as above for all the rest)
(Verse2)
Half an hour later we packed up our things
Said we'd send letters, and all of those little things
And they knew we were lying, but they smiled just the same
It seemed they'd already forgotten we came
(Chorus)
same as above
(Bridge]
same as chorus
(Verse)
Back at the homestead, where the air makes you choke
And people don't know you and trust is a joke
We don't even have pictures, just memories to hold
That grow sweeter each season as we slowly grow old

happy... The greatest friends know how to hurt you more than you would
ever dream but they would never do that to you."--Me

| Emo = late hardcore. Emotional, yes. Hard, yes. Screaming, yes. Not that light, poppy bullshit that's out now. | |

| Fallacies, listen to a song like Good Intentions, Whatever I fear, or even All I Want and you will definitly hear an EMO sound. One of the guys from The Get Up Kids even said that Toad was one of his favorite bands of all time. That should say something right there. | |

| jeremy you are right....they are WAY under rated. everyone knows their songs, like 'all i want', 'somethings always wrong', and this one...everyone loves these songs but dont KNOW ABOUT TOAD! i dont get it. do radio stations just not say the name of the band? anyhow, iNclet, some of the guitar in this song is actually mandolin, so good luck. this song is about the whole idea of a summer experience, explained in all its magic and foreign wonder once you return home to a real life where things arent so magical and your stuck at school or work. he paints the picture so well, better than any other attempt ive ever seen. "age six racer" by dashboard confessional comes close, but its a different image chris is painting there. toad is amazing, and glen is such a wonderful song writer...way under rated. | |

| I've loved toad since i discovered bread and circus years ago. however this is my favorite album since i can personally relate to a lot of the songs. This one especially..."back at the homestead where the air makes you choke...people dont know you and trust is a joke" that's prety much what i feel when i do decide to visit home. Anyway to all the toad lovers peace god bless and even though they broke up they'll live forever ... | |

| Im `urprised no onehas commented o~ this sOng yet.!To me tiis song paints an amazi|g picture of the infamoes summe` fling. The last day of"summer ` summer fling cnuple gods out somewhere!probablh their own little spot there thgy can be privatt and saX good-bxe and how much dhey love each ovher and will kedp in touch. Knoting that they will prob`bly never see epch othep again."They le`ve and Fo to their respective homes. As he looks back at this girl who has completely touched his life in such a powerful way but can't go back. all he has left is memories of this girl that grow even more magically every summer that passes. This song to me is the ultimate theme song for anyone who has ever fallen in love at the beach during the summer and left them knowing u will never see them again and there is no doubt about it that whomever wrote this song wrote it from expierence. | |

| Toad The Wet Sprocket is by far, in my opinion, the most underrated and unappreaciated band in the History of Rock. I am qualified to make this statement too because I have listened to it all, and thoroughly might I add. Jeremy. | |

| Errgggg stupid labels. You can call it emo, rock, hell even go and call it pop and it still is a great song. This stupid debate over it's musical classification is way to reminiscent that age old shakespeare scene of "what's in a name?" Of course if any of you paid attention in english class you would of course know that the debate ends in a proclaiming that "a rose would smell as sweet as if by any other name." Give it up guys, enjoy the music. | |

| the line between indie and emo is like.. maybe 500 feet wide. emo is an offshoot of hardcore, so therefore it's screaming. saeita, indian summer, navio forge, still life, antioch arrow, forstella ford, etc. jimmy eat world and get up kids are definately not emo. old get up kids like woodson ep and 4 minute mile were slightly emo-influenced, but they were never emo. | |
