| In a way the entire album really is a themed album about moving on, waking up and realizing there's more to life then just moping around. This song and the last song on the CD go well together. This is really a well put together CD with a few songs threw in there just for fun (honeybee, Cabin Down Below.) I really like how he put "Crawling back to you." right before "Wake up time." it's like he put them togethere to make a story about himself. How he keeps wanting to crawl back to his ex-wife but then realizes it's time to wake up. The album really was made in a way for himself....and for him to get out his feelings on situations. | |

| Petty wrote this album following his divorce. I take it to be a kind of reconciliation with his ex-wife who he really did love but realizes that it wasn't meant to be. He is bascially telling her he never has found another person who compares to her, and that she needs to move on, go find a lover, but please stay close to him in her heart. Its basically just a love song to someone who he knows he will never be able to be in a relationship with, but he wants her to be happy and free. I think this is a beautiful song and i feel this way about past loves. It won't work out with us but you are a wonderful person and I will always love you, is basically what he is saying. | |
