The first line states "... metropolis noir " noir means black in french. hence the black city on the jacket booklet. what i intepret this song as is simple a dark day for the whole city. even washing the dishes is a sad task.

I am looking at the liner notes for the CD right now and there is a photograph of a black cityscape. It seems to me that this is one of those stories where the tragedies of life are just another line in the collective history of the city. It happens so many times that it may make the city a "black metropolis" or a "greasy jungle". I don't know, am I ever right with this stuff?
