To Giunga:
"Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus,
rumoresque senum severiorum
omnes unius aestimemus assis.
Da mi basia mille, deinde centum,
dein mille altera, dein secunda centum,
deinde usque altera mille, deinde centum;
dein cum milia multa facerimus,
conturbabimus illa, ne sciamus,
aut ne quis malus invidere possit,
cum tantum sciat esse basiorum."
-Catullus
Let's live, my Lesbia, and love each other
and less than one "assis" .
let's extime the rumors of the elderly .
Give me one thousand kisses and then one hundred,
so one thousand more and one hundred more,
then withuout stopping for a moment
one thousand more and one hundred more;
finally, after we have summed up the many thusands,
we will cheat on the total,
either because we don't want to know it,
or so that no one could enviously send us bad wishes
when he will know the amount of our kisses.

| I think that maybe this song is about feeling fed up in a relationship. It seems to me like the person he's singing about was a cold hearted bitch with no feelings and really treated him like crap. | |

| I'm thinking "you left me on the shelf" might be a reference to 'Why does it always rain on me?' if you took all the little feelings in your heart and took all those little feelings all apart oh well now what's the point in doing all of that He tries to wake the girl's conscience but at the same time knows it's too late to change and overanalysing his feelings won't get him anywhere. | |

| It`s about a boy who`s not getting the love he needs from his girlfriend. He feels that she doesn`t care about his feelings, and that she`s ignoring him and pushing him away. The trust they once had is gone, and there`s no one to rely on. She don`t care about him, she only cares about herself. He`s sad, angry and bitter. Very good song! | |

| Fran channels his dark side in this one ... this song seems to be about being in a relationship and wondering if you really know who you're with. What makes me think this is the references to "Flowers in the Window" and "She's So Strange" at the start of the song - it's as though he goes from having everything sorted out to a state where he doesn't understand what's going on at all. It makes me think that this is a paranoid flight that Fran decides to ride out by writing about it. He takes something small that is bothering him (a feeling that he doesn't know someone as well as he wishes) and amplifies it into a grand piece of pulp fiction. In the end he cools his head, gains some perspective and realizes that everything is going to be alright as it is. | |

| I love it when he starts to make the noise of the train,I think thats brilliant.I love it when he finishs doning that and he's coming onto the last verse and his voice seems to be going on for ages before you reach the verse.The bit where he says "rear window".It is pretty dark when he says "If its all the same to you,here's what I going to do,I'm going to buy a gun,gonner shoot everything, everyone and then I'll come for you because it was you who drove me to" I think he's using the metaphor of the train to show hsi last chance or opportunity,and how he doesn't want to miss it,but it's not worth comtemplating if he did | |

| this song is about knowing there is no solution to helping someone out when they're makign a wrong decision. cautionarysong said 'flowers in the window' is a reference to pregancy - could you explain? my only guess is it's a symbol for happiness, taking it from the song of the same name "wow now look at you now, flowers in the window, its such a lovely day and im glad that you feel the same". he's troubled but the girl is happy (probably with a new lover?) the singer and the girl were together once, "you left me on the shelf and now there's no one to rely on" proves there was once a relationship, and she ended it. "rain on the brain" to me means that the singer is going through a lot of thinking and confusion. the first lines are directed to different subjects, the girl ("now there's flowers in your window / but if it's all the same to you..."), and us - the audience ("she's so strange / i don't know anything about her") - these two lines refference to other songs by the band, "flowers in the window", and "she's so strange" which is, interestingly enough, about a girl who has found a dead end in her life. the singer seems to be going through profound heartache, enough to make him do things to 'shake her awake' from her decision to end the relationship. however, it is clear he doesn't have the power to do that. even in his attempts to write a song or buy a gun, he knows she will miss the opportunity to realize. he warns "this could be the last train" for her. he wants to meet up with the numbness in her ("search within yourself for feelings, everybody's got them") by "shoot everything everyone" and blaming it on her. his point becomes even cloudier when he relates to an image of che guevara, but makes clear the important thing is the feeling his getting, and not what is going on around him. this part of the song reminds me (like scaredycat said) of "why does it always rain on me" when he sings: "still life on a shelf when i've got my mind on something else". seems like he's going through the same situation in this song. finally, "what's the poing in doing all of that" is a defeating statement of knowing there's no use in his approach to her. | |

| 'and it's all the same to you' maybe about being ignored, i think. it does kind of sound like they want some attention, and they're so desperate they'll do anything... this is an extremely pretty-sounding song, by the way. | |

| i believe that this song is one of the darkest songs Travis ever recorded.I think it's not only about a cold hearted person but about everyone who drive us nuts or those people who don't appreciate our love. | |

| I feel like this cat is in some sort of delusional relationship and is angry when his efforts are not returned...I may be way off, but it seems like he looks at the flowers in the window from the outside...almost stalkerish...not knowing her, but admiring from a distance... | |
