I believe that this songs hints to a great sancturay and paradise in our lives. "the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side..." Stating, that live can always be better no matter who you are, or what you have. "Neighbor's got a new car that you want to drive..." Maligns the strict materialism in our society. Bigger, better, and improved products guarented to ameroliate our lives. Blah, I HATE MATERIALISM!

To me, this song is about how people are discontent. No matter what, it seems that we arent satisfied.. hence the "grass is always greener on the other side... the neighbor's got a new car that you wanna drive.".. however, i think that travis is trying to tell us that we are all equal. "we all will live, we all will die." In the grand scheme of things.. we are all the same. Be content and happy with what you have.
