Verse 1:
C G
when will you carry me home
Dm F
like the wounded star in a movie
C G
when will you carry me home
Dm F
take it back to the start when you move me
C G
'cause when you talk to me that way
Dm Am
i'll be a million miles away
C G
i guess it's just another day
F
in love
Chorus:
C G Dm
We're battleships
F
drifting in an alley river
C G Dm
takin hits
F
sinking, it's now or never
C G Dm
overboard...
F G F
drowning in a sea of love and hate
G F
but it's too late
G F C
battleship down
Verse 2:
when will you figure it out
that you're not always right, little darling
when will you figure it out
that it's not worth the fight, little darling
'cause when you can't think what to say
you go and throw it all away
i guess it's just another day in love
Chorus:
battleships
drifting in an alley river
takin hits
sinking, it's now or never
overboard, drowning in a sea of love and hate
but it's too late
battleship down
Bridge:Play the intro again
but you're too smart
and i'm too dumb
with no heart in the middle
Chorus:
battleships
drifting in an alley river
takin hits
sinking, it's now or never
overboard, falling into the ocean
ship to shore, drowning in a sea of love and hate
but it's too late
battleship down

| I like this song. I think it's clearly about the way people in relationships tend to argue a lot. And saying how it would be so good if they could just stop arguing about who's right and who's wrong and get on with the loving :) | |

| Still like the song but i feel it sounds a little like quiksand in bits and a lot like a few of their b sides? anyone agree? I think what its about is a simple metaphorical thats not their best writing but still a cute little easy breezy song. | |

| The beginning of this song is similar to James' song "Laid". I guess it has a kinda sad lyric but a sweet and smooth melody. This album reminds me of their first one, which had more lively rhythms | |
