I kind of like the flow of the soundtrack version of this song but the lyrics definitely are stronger on the album. Some people just like their artists to stay with a certain "sound" so those people trashed "Pop" so much. I still found so much in it to rally for and damn it if he made another 'city' song that I loved as well: Miami. Oh yeah, this song has THE best two lines about the division of the idea of grace (i.e. God/Jesus' blessings on man) and religion (i.e. Church's attempted control of grace). Which I think made a certain made named Luther an enemy of the 'state.' Peace

It's a Christmas song for Ally(Bono's Wife) Here listen to my reasoning. God=God, even though Christmas is about Jesus Baby=Ally God's Angels=Hope.

Have you seen the video? I think this song it's on the soundtrack of "City of angels". My favorite part is: "And the cartoon network turns into the news". The children represent the future to this world, so let them enjoy their childhood, don't confrunt them with the cruel reality. This is an amaizing song, full of hidden conntations. Love U2!!!

For me it's about that side of Religion (country songs) where people say if God wanted to do something he'd do it himself, or send an angel. Bono is clearly telling us we need to get of our backsides - be the light and the love or as Jesus said a City on a hill should shine - which Bono quotes in Yahweh on the new album

Wowee, where does Bono get the inspiration to write these lyrics? I don't have a clue as to how to put my thoughts and feelings into a beautiful song...and he's done it time and time again. I think the song echoes a universal spiritual feeling about life...thank God for musicians like him...

Its a song of quiet anger at the way the world is and Gods's failure intervene. I love this song, wish they played it more live!
