| U2takemehigher - those lines fit in with what i have read about this song, and that is that it is about end times - Under a blood red sky - refers to the 'moon to blood' prophercy from Joel. 'A crowd has gather black and white' is in reference to the great ingathering from every tribe nation etc. The 'golden age' is also a reference along thise lines if anyone cares enough to ask me i will find out some more on it. This makes sense as well as it was this period that U2 were their most relegious. | |

| I will begin again. That says a lot: maybe nothing changes on new year's day in the sense that you wake up and you are still the same person in the same body, in the same place, same job, same friends, same family. But the beauty of being human is that you can always begin again, no matter what it is you are beginning. It could be about love and brushing yourself off if you need it, or even looking at your current love and being refreshed. But it can be also that no matter what fucked up things we have done to ourselves in this world/global economy, if we really wanted, we could begin again or begin to make the changes that we need to make. But by being inert, nothing will ever change. | |

| This song is the ultimate revolutionary love war chant. It says, in a world gone mad, we can stand for sanity by finding each other. It's incredible stuff. | |

| To me, this song is about on New Year's Day when everyone plans on changing, or making a new years resolution .. and Bono is saying that 'nothing changes on New Year's Day' that with all the changes he will make, he still wants to be with the one he loves ... like, nothing will change that ... get it? well that's what I think. | |

| yeah the love song i get and stuff... but what about lines like "Under a blood red sky a crowd has gathered, black and white. Arms entwined, the chosen few." or "and so we're told this is a golden age, but gold is the reason for the wars we wage." ? just wondering...i came on here to find answers... not "this is a wonderful song. great song." | |

| i don't know if this is the BEST rock song ever, but i do think it's a good one. as for the first comment, i really see what you mean. but i also think it could mean that even though we make a lot of promises to change things with every passing year, we never do. people get all hyped up, saying things will be different, but we still make the same mistakes, fight kill and hate, and that nothing ever changes. | |
