Larsens, harmonics and vibrato !!!
That’s how Adam Clayton plays guitar and I like it !!!
Sometimes you have to strum the strings above the sillet (french word. Or do
I must say neck ??). To sound like him, it depends on what guitar you have !!
This is not in order… Listen to the song to have it right.
This is the “Under A Blood Red Sky” version.
The vibrato bar is used 90% of the song !!!
+ + + + + + + + + +
e|-------------7-12---------------12--|-------------------------------------|
B|-------------------|-7--|--7-12-------------------------------------------|
G|---------7-|--------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---7-|-7------------------------------11\9-7~-|-7/9-----------------------|
A|-7--------------------------------------------------7~--------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Well, that’s all !!!
Very simple to play with guitar… Much harder to play with amp(s) !!!!
Sorry for my bad English…
The best page to get Edge’s sound :

I really like this song alot. My first time to hear it was actually at youth at my church because i had to learn the bass riff's because we were going to play it in praise and worship. Ever since then i have really liked this song and get alot out of it whenever i hear it. If u just let it flow and listen to the words it has a very good message.

Why are you falsely accusing me of hating them, without any basis? I don't. Those of Christendom (false Christianity) are taught to hem-haw about God's standards rather than uphold them. They are wrongly taught the inappropriate, out-of-context cliche of "don't judge." "Don't judge" applies to those functioning "within the ballpark" - it means not to pick at what is unnecessary, scripturally, to pick at. Blasphemy of God's name and the teaching of spiritual lies to millions of people isn't "in the ballpark" of God's scriptural standards - it VIOLATES them. Believing and living according to spiritual lies will soon mean the permanent DEATH (at Armageddon) of millions, if not billions of people. Try LOOKING UP Exodus 20:1-7, please. Yahweh has mighty strong words of penalty clearly warning against blasphemy and idolatry there. Rather than being a common hem-hawer, Yahweh/ Jehovah has entirely different instructions for how the Witnesses of his name should operate in this spiritually drunk, asleep, apathetic, Satan-fooled world, and this is a piece of it: God's words: "When I say to someone wicked, 'O wicked one, you will positively die!' but you actually do not speak out to warn the wicked one from his way, he himself as a wicked one will die in his own error, but his blood I shall ask back at your own hand. But as regards you, in case you actually warn someone wicked from his way [for him] to turn back from it but he actually does not turn back from his way, he himself will die in his own error, whereas you yourself will certainly deliver your own soul." (Ezekiel 33:8,9) So, the truth about "judging' is that when a person knows of someone violating God's laws and, according to the scriptures, the penalty for those violations is eternal death, a person with knowledge of God's laws has responsibility to warn such persons, otherwise they are failing their "neighbor", failing God, and are bloodguilty. I've gone to concerts, etc., as an observer-protester and opposing poet, and I've done a good job "reporting." I'm not new at this, and I have no intention of stopping this sort of thing - because I do care about people. Most of all, I do it for Yahweh/ Jehovah, whose holy name and reputation is being smeared. For that reason, I don't quit because some people think its bothersome. I never will. Also know this - nothing can stop word of mouth. Have a nice day.

But, M.L., no one has the right to violate God's laws for the sake of art; or for the art of trying to teach his principles. And it has never pleases God for people to mix anything of spiritistic nature in with the worship of him - especially with his holy name. The beads represent the major sector of Christendom (false Christianity - religions claiming to follow Christ, but who practices clearly indicate that they do not obey him). Christendom is one of the top two parts of Satan's world empire of ALL false religions, AKA "Babylon the Great." Yahweh/Jehovah has charged Babylon the Great with bloodguilt for all those who have been slaughtered on the earth, and for misleading all the nations with spiritism. There is only a short time left before God unleashes his Divine vengeance upon the world empire of false religions. Even now, God turns a deaf ear to their prayers and offerings - since their hands are figuratively covered with blood ; and since what they sacrifice is not really to him, but to the nations, to demons, to Satan's world system. (Isaiah 1:15; 1Corinthians 10:20) Why offer up - why set on high for both God and everyone to see/honor - amulets that are representative of one of the false religious entities that Yahweh has already pronounced his judgment and condemnation upon? As part of Babylon the Great, that religion has also shared in blood-bathing the earth and murdering God's holy ones. (Revelation 18:4,5,8,20-24) To hold up those beads during singing parts of God's Psalms to the masses, even after singing "Yahweh" to a backdrop of pagan and spiritistic images was the final Yahweh-insultive finishing touch on what was surely as repugnant as episodes of golden calf-worship long ago. They should all be glad that the ground didn't crack open, etc. Once the "great tribulation" soon starts, its going to be too late to get out of false religion and get into God's "ark" of the true one. That is why people still caught up in the false religions of this world need to get out of them and clean up their acts - even literally - now.

This is a paraphrase mix of parts of songs Yahweh/ Jehovah/ Ieova (etc.) wrote; and that he had David pen down. The Psalms are meant to give all that read it insight into God's purposes and his understanding and acknowledgment of human feelings of having to deal with corruption in this world - of things not being how they are meant to be. This song belongs to Yahweh/ Jehovah/ Ieova. It is his intellectual property. Its only right interpretation is according to how God's other words bear on its meaning. The Scriptures are interharmonious and interpret themselves. God helps those with the right heart condition - i.e., those honestly seeking his will and righteousness rather than their own desires first - to get the meaning and sense out of them with his spirit. The verses paraphrase Psalm 401-3. A literal translation is as follows, with a naturalization of God's personal name from the Tetragrammaton put back in its proper place. Most translations, against God's will, have removed his name from his own book - without his authorization whatsoever. People wrongly did this out of wrongful pressure from other men. Putting God's name back where it belongs reinfuses the Scriptures with the force and authority God intended. These are not man's words, but God's. "I earnestly hoped in Jehovah [Yahweh], And so he inclined [his ear] to me and heard my cry for help. He proceeded to bring me up out of a pit, Out of the mire of [the] sediment. Then he raised up my feet upon a crag; He firmly established my steps. Further, he put in my mouth a new song, Praise to our God. Many will see [it] and will fear, And they will trust in Jehovah [Yahweh]." The phrase "how long" is used again and again in the Scriptures. Sometimes its an example of faithful ones asking God how long it will be until he stops tolerating the existence of the wicked with their hurtful injustice. (For instance: Those who plan acts of violence or other persecution of God's true servants; those who work against the spread of God's needed lifesaving truth and teach destructive religious lies; and those who support murder/ [now unauthorized] war, or other moral crimes in the name of God for political or other greedy gain.) Sometimes its God asking men how long THEY will continue their stubborn insolence and refusal to listen to their very own Maker. It can also be a combo of both. Examples: "Raise yourself up, O Judge of the earth. Bring back a retribution upon the haughty ones. HOW LONG are the wicked, O Jehovah, HOW LONG are the wicked themselves going to exult? They keep bubbling forth, they keep speaking unrestrained; All the practicers of what is hurtful keep bragging about themselves. Your people,O Jehovah, they keep crushing, And your inheritance they keep afflicting." (Psalm 94:2-5) "You sons of men, HOW LONG must my glory be for insult, [While] you keep loving empty things, [While] you keep seeking to find a lie?" (Psalm 4:2) "HOW LONG, O Jehovah, will you forget me? Forever? HOW LONG will you conceal your face against me? HOW LONG shall I set resistance in my soul, Grief in my heart by day? HOW LONG will the enemy be exalted over me? Do look [upon me]; answer me, O Jehovah my God. Do make my eyes shine, that I may not fall asleep in death, That my enemy might not say: I have won out over him!" [That my adversaries themselves may [not] be joyful because I am made to stagger. As for me, in your loving-kindness I have trusted; Let my heart be joyful in your salvation. I will sing to Jehovah, for he has dealt rewardingly with me." (Psalm 13) As for the true "new song", in real spiritual-Scriptural context, it is a universal anthem of truth and pure worship. Angels and spirit creatures in heaven sing to God songs of truth and praise as his purposes transpire. The "holy ones of the Supreme one" - the 144,000 co-heirs of Christ's Kingdom (humans bought from the earth who will be kings and priests with Christ to help him rule over all those who will inherit paradise earth) have spirit given insight as God's adopted sons that enable them to sing of his purposes and praise in a way unique to them. (Revelation 5:9,10; Psalm 37:10,11; Revelation 14:1-3.) They share their insight with earth-futured loyal servants of God, who then also use this insight, along with God's spirit, in their own new songs - of truth, pure worship, and praise. The "new song" has NOTHING to do with supporting or sustaining the corrupt world system now under Satan's control, with its deficient nations and forces actually in opposition to God Almighty (including false religious entities). Instead, it has to do with aspects of God's heaven based Kingdom, the rightfulness of his Universal Sovereignty, God's appointed Kingship of his Son, victories of God's purposes being carried out or their imminent victory, etc. Anyone singing paraphrases of God's words owes to own up to them by their own practices and behavior. There are far too many FALSE religious teachers/ministers in this world. It is not enough to preach some of God's words sometimes, and then muddle them up by ALSO teaching common, popular, mass-pleasing, anti-scriptural religious lies. To carelessly preach religious lies is to preach spiritual death - which will, by justice, become permanent physical death, soon, on God's day of Armageddon. At the last show I attended, Portland, I eye-witnessed this song being performed right after U2 blasphemed God's name Yahweh to the extreme again, by showing yet another mass of people huge lit-up idolatrous and spiritistic symbols while singing "Yahweh." Such performances mock God and spread Satan's death-producing spiritual lies. Based on scriptural examples meant to teach us; no one should expect God to "listen" to such prayer-song-appeals. To top off his recitation of Psalm 40, etc., Bono placed his string of idolatrous amulets, whose origin is spiritistic, atop the microphone stand - as another "spiritual" example for all. Although that "string" is entirely similar to Buddhist prayer beads ( thus bespeaking a Babylonish origin); it is also a symbol of the largest sector of Christendom (false "Christianity). Christendom is one of the top two entities of false religion in this world. False religion - the whole lot of it - has filled the world with bloodshed with its God-betraying actions and support of violence and spiritism. What is the point of saying "love and peace", cutting down Yahweh and Jesus Christ's own teachings; and then closing a show by showing spiritual support of an entirely God-condemned, bloodguilty false religious institution? (Revelation 18:23,24) HOW LONG - to sing this song. How long will Yahweh tolerate those working against his life-saving, freeing truth? No much longer. (Psalm 37:10) So get right fast. Reject God-dishonoring false religious teachings, no matter how attractively they are packaged; no matter how moving the accompanying music is; no matter how charismatic the deliverers are. Its your eternal life and that of others that is being put at risk. The status of your relationship with God should be far, far more important than the "coolness" of relating to popular performers pushing their own sexy brand of political pseudo-spirituality. The time to get real is now. Do not wait. Soon "how long" will be over and past.

The lyrics were written in about 10 minutes and the music about 10 minutes also (I heard Bono say that on a TV special, I think). It comes from Psalm chapter 40. It's starts like this: I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40: 1-3 NIV (New Internation Version)
