this is such a great song-why so little comments? it reminds me of 'sic transit gloria' by brand new- mainly because of the refrences to sex and the 'i never thought we'd make it out alive' part. i think this song is about taking it too far, whether that be about sex or their relationship and their commitment to each other.great song, great cd,great ass band.

Ya, you're both kinda wrong, BUT right at the same time. Underoath is signed under tooth and nail, AND solidstate! 10 points each. and ya, they're both semi christian labels, and avtually, they're basically the same company...solidstate is a branch off of tooth and nail. But anyways... I think this song is about giving into sexual sins when you know it's wrong. He says how this is where they both go wrong, and "in this moment, we both ignore the truth" and the truth being that what they're doing or about to do is wrong in the eyes of God. and there's other lines that suggest this as well. And in the chorus kinda part where it sounds like they're dying and everything, I think that might be saying that they're spirits have died from all their sexual sins, or something to that effect. I'm pretty sure y'all catch my drift, eh?

one of the best songs on the new cd by far, but nothing close to the last track...so touching.

in reference to those of u who believe they cut out the word whore because they are with tooth and nail, i would have to disagree. Another t&n band, twothirtyeight used the word on their 2002 release, "You Should Be Living", in the line, "Credit is a whore, but i'm not sleeping w/ her anymore". I believe they simply took the word out because it is offensive to some, cuz it obiviously didn't seem to be a big deal back in '02 for twothirtyeight

The only thing i think that has been left out is the fact that this song deals with sex as an unhealthy addiction. "This is what makes me feel alive... Tie me up and toss this key... I'm such a fool for you... *I'm so addicted*..." As for the Christianity thing... I think this song doesn't reference Christianity at all. However, the idea for the song is probably a product of Christian moral. However his references to death and pain are not suggesting that they are dead in gods view or dead in their faith, it's more of a personal regret taken upon themselves. Such lines as, "Longs are fading as we both stop bleeding. My/Your heart is dead, it's way past beating," and, "Well look who's dying now, slit your wrists for sleeping with the girl next door," are products of personal discomfort with what they've done. These fealings are not begotten by outside influence or "Divine Judgement".

Ugh, I dunno. I guess thats a valid interpretation, but I don't like to think of it that way. I am not one for the whole religious scene. I can appreciate a song that is about it though I guess, I just prefer not to. But after reading over the lyrics I see what your saying. Either way, its a DAMN amazing song. I can't stop listening to it.
