| I have to agree with heres my kiss to betray. It's about a christian on earth that is constantly put down for his or her beliefs. Underoath tells us to stay strong and set your sights north. The band tells us that they were lost without direction but now they have Christ as we do too. Even though we are very alone. we have God in the end. Behind the mak you'll find yourself alone- on earth your alone | |

| this isn't a new sound, nor a different underoath. it is simply them, gathering along their musical journey, all of the pieces that has made them what they are today. their faith rings loud. though. i do think this album has a much deeper meaning than we know. | |

| Apparently most of you don't have the actual cd with the artwork. The album tells a story. This is the glowing woman talking to the wearied traveler. Each song goes along with the story of this traveler who can't find his way home in the dark world he is trapped. | |

| I love this song.....simply amazing. I find myself singing this song in the bathroom mirror. I'm looking at myself in the mirror and I dont recognize whos there, but the person in the mirror is simply me telling me all these words... that it's not the end of the road. More or less its me, looking at myself, and myself is telling me that I will find what I'm looking/longing for. I love the fact that the song it titled "To Whom It May Concern" | |

| Please, stop trying to pin Christian meanings on this. They are a Christian band so I'm sure it is in some way about god, but dont over analyze the song. "So hold your head up high and know, it's not the end of the road" This is obviously saying when something gets you down, its not the end of the world. "Walk down this beaten path before you pack your things and head home. At the end of the road you'll find what you've been longing for." Means dont give up yet and to just keep fighting, in the end it will all work out. Pretty simply. "I know 'cause my feet have the scars to show. I was lost with vague direction and no place to call home." Obviously, he knows there are rewards for pushing on because he's been through it. "It's time for you to press on This is not your war Set your sights to North and press on This is not your escape" Once again, obviously, he is saying to move on. Whatever you are going through is not who you truly are inside, and the true you can make it out. It's also pretty clear when he says "Wash away, what theyve thought of you. And press on." (which isnt in the above lyrics but it is in the song) he's saying forget what they think about you, and just move on. Here's where I got confused: "Because in this place we're all as good as dead. End cycle." I can't think of what it's saying, but I think it is something to the extent of, everybody in the worlds opinion should have no effect on us. We're all judgemental at times but you just have to press through it. "Behind the mask you'll find yourself alone" Be who you are, dont seek acceptance from these people, because it will only leave you empty on the inside. | |

| I'm in love with this album and the new sound. I'm in love with Underoath in general... "So hold your head up high and know it's not the end of the road" - Be committed to what you believe in and don't let what anyone tells you, bring you down. "Walk down this beaten path before you pack your things and head home." - Walk down the road of being true and loyal to Christ before you die, don't give up and don't give into sin.. At the end of the road you'll find what you've been longing for." - ...then, when you leave this forsaken world, you'll get your reward - heaven and Christ. "I know 'cause my feet have scars to show I was lost with vague direction and no place to call home." - The singers say that they've walked down the wrong path and they got lost and life lost meaning to them. "It's time for you to press on This is not your war." - don't try to put sense into non-believers because one must find their own way to God. "Set your sights to North and press on." - Set your sights to heaven and continue down the road. "This is not your escape" - Not sure what this means. "Wash away what they thought of you. Because in this place, we're all as good as dead ...end cycle..." - It doesn't matter what others think of you because Earth is forsaken and it only matters what God thinks of you not humans. "Behind the mask you'll find yourself." - If you forget and give up all the meaningless things as in a mask... then you'll find yourself and you'll find God. | |

| So hold your head up high and know it's not the end of the road Walk down this beaten path before you pack your things and head home At the end of the road you'll find what you've been longing for I know 'cause my feet have scars to show I was lost with vague direction and no place to call home - That whole paragraph is simply someone telling us to hold on, no matter wat happens, to stay true. as Christians, and its definitely talking about Christianity, we need to hold our head up, be proud in what we stand for and live for God. dont go down the wrong road. the person who did is telling us he knows all this becuz he did go through the wrong road and he lost his way and he got hurt along the way, but of course God took him back. It's time for you to press on This is not your war Set your sights to North and press on This is not your escape Wash away what they thought of you Because in this place, we're all as good as dead ...end cycle... - This sounds like its talking about suicide, which people use to "escape" the *pain". well i think its saying not to worry about wat other say to you, thats its not your war, becuz our true war isnt against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12 says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of the world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." so ya, we shouldnt worry about wat others think, we shouldnt let it hold us down. another thing is, its of course saying we should set our eyes on God, Heaven, u know UP the North. watever ur thinking about doing to escape, whether it be suicide or drugs or w/e, its not an escape just a hindrance. and once again, we need to not care wat they think of us, becuz on Earth, were all basically dead. and i think end cycle could mean that we dont have life till the cycle is over. till were dead and were alive once again in Heaven. Behind the mask you'll find yourself alone It's not the end of the road for you - and i think this is saying that if we hide behind something, something fake, something that we arent, like being a two faced Christian, than were just gonna end up feeling more alone, but its not the end of the road. and finally it ends saying at the end of the road, youll find what youve been longing for. which of course means, when its all over, everything weve wanted and needed and longed for, all that is true and righteous, will be there for us. such a deep and awesome song. yet truly, the meaning is easy to get. God bless! late | |

| This song actually really suprised me when I saw it live. It was almost as if Spencer was really trying to tell the kids something and be encouraging. I think it's written from a christian POV, but like the band, they want to reach the non-christian audience, in an encouraging, but non-confronting way.... great song | |

| Heresmykisstobetray....your probably right. On their previous album their finale song was about christians, and now this seems to be. Even though i don't believe in Christianity at all really, these are one of the best bands around. I saw the live in April aswell....and on "A boy brushed red..." all their mic's and amps cut out! i was like "BASTARDS" so they threw their guitars and mics to the floor and kicked the drum kit....in style :) | |

| first of all, if u are reading this u must be a underoath fan, which makes me ur friend, and u r cool. 2nd of all, i agree with everyone here and all of these opions are great. the christianity side of it, which tells us christians to save other nonchristains who have not been saved...and the other heavy meaning is tell "those of us it may have concerned, and does concern" to "press on" and 2 never give up, in what ever ur obsacles may be; and 2 know that when ur problems with what ever it may be, BIG or small, God will always be there waiting 4 u, with open arms.....god bless all of u! and underOATH=life | |

| To Nothing But Skin, this album is filled with references towards coming to Christ, accepting who you are, and staying strong despite the issues at hand. If you read the liners notes, all of them speak of God and Jesus Christ, and a few of them write very personal messages. For those fans of UnderOATH who say that they aren't who they were, that they're a screamo band without direction, read a song like this with an open mind. They've grown both musically and lyrically, and I for one, am impressed with their sense of vision. They actually had something to say on this album with every song, which not a lot of bands can claim, whether they're "screamo", "metal", or otherwise. Anyway, I wanted to get that off my chest. It bothers me when you compare the UnderOATH of today to the UnderOATh that first started. They've stayed true to their message. That's enough for me. | |
