THE USED
"It's Hard To Say"
ok... this is a song from the new Used album called "In Love And Death"
It's the second album from the Used and I think that is a good record
after the self-titled that it's one of the best album I ever heard.
The song "Hard To Say" is a slow ballad, with great vocals, there's
not a lot of guitar in this song, but I think it's good to play it with just
an acoustic guitar, so I put up the chords I arranged and the lyrics...
I hope it's ok, rate this and my other tab!
intro:
e|-----5-----.-----5-----|
B|--------5--.--------5--|
G|--7--------.--7--------|
D|-----------.-----------|
A|-----------.-----------|
E|-----------.-----------|
verse:
D Bm A
The singer finished singing and she's walking out
D Bm A
The singer sheds a tear fear of falling out
G A
and it's hard to say how I feel today
Bm Bm/A G A
for years gone by and I cry...
chorus:
D D/C# Bm
It's hard to say that I was wrong
It's hard to say I miss you
F#m G D
since you've been gone it's not the same
repeat verse:
My worries weigh the world how I used to be
and everything in cold seems a plague in me
and it's hard to say how I feel today
For years gone by and I cry...
repeat chorus:
It's hard to say that I was wrong
It's hard to say I miss you
Since you've been gone it's not the same
It's hard to say I held my tongue
It's hard to say if only
since you've been gone it's not the same
middle:
Em Bm C
The worst that I fear is the lie you told a thousand times a before
Em Bm C
The worst that I fear is the night
G A
And it's hard to say how I feel today
Bm G A
for years gone by and I cry...
repeat chorus:
It's hard to say that I was wrong.
It's hard to say I miss you
Since you've been gone it's not the same
It's hard to say I held my tongue
It's hard to say if only
Since you've been gone I'm not the same
[God it's hard to say]
The End...

| i think the lyrics up there are wrong what it says: "Words that i fear is the lie i told a thousand times before Words that i fear is the night" what it actually is: worse than the fear is the lie you told a thousand times before worse than the fear is the knife. these are in the used lyric book | |

| His vocal range really impressed me throughout this album, especially on this song, too. I love this song so much, it's a really beautiful song and composed very well. I get chills the last time he says, "our years gone by." | |

| Something about the Used that I really like. They keep you going and they are a very intelligent band. Now I'm sure there'll be one or a few people that disagree, but I view them as this. The singer is really convincing at the duality he goes through, and on one hand he is full of emotion and sensitivity, like in this song, but on the other hand he is trashing his world in a swirl of drugs and puking. I really like this guy LOL. Anyway, I'm wondering if this song is about Kelly Osbourne. This seems like a recent relationship, at least during his singing career. Pretty self explanatory and unlike some of his other songs, he really cares about this one. | |

| if anyone was truly a Used fan on here you would know that The Used second CD, In love and death is about Bert's girlfriend that was pregnet with his baby killed herself of OD now I think everyone here that reads this will understand why their new CD is softer and understand most of their lyrics. | |

| Kelly Osborn??? What?? I'm confused there, because as far as i've known Kate is the only person he's dated. Ever. This song was written for her 2 year before she died. He used to sing it to her, and now that she's gone he realizes it means so much more than he thought. I'd really like to know exactely what he wrote it about...maybe they broke up and he sang it to her to try to get her back. That would be awefully sweet. :) | |

| This song is definately about Kate. From what I've heard Kate is a girl who he dated for around five years and lost his virginity to. I heard that one day he had decided to call her out of the blue only to find out through her younger sister when he called, that she had overdosed and died. I think this song is definately about her and I think a lot of the other songs are too. I am part of the used nation and someone in there said that at one of the shows he said they had never played the song 'hard to say' before but they were going to and to excuse bert if he got emotional, which he did while finishing the song =( | |

I really like this guy LOL. " -Incredibly insightful and true.... one thing that appeals to me is his contradictions. that includes his voice on one hand its soft, gentle and caressing the next its harsh, loud, thrashing... but one thing remains the genuity in his performing... | |

| i read that they had been dating, but then they broke up, and then he tried to stay friends with her because she was pregnant, then she overdosed on the fourth of july, and he lost them both.. and thats when they decided to put this song on the CD, apparently alot of the songs on this CD are about her | |

| Definitely about Kate. It's so sad that he did everything with this girl, lose touch, and wind up calling her and finding out she's gone. She was pregnant with his child as well which is just terrible. He lost everything when he lost her and I think a lot of this album is soaked in her memories. | |
