| well, knowing the band, the singer whose feelings are being portrayed in the song, and the girl he's talking about, let me shed some light. thecrowing83 is partly right..."It's quite clear that it's a destraught lover fighting his feelings about his ex with Good Ol' Alcohol and him wanting to get over it and see if he has it in himself to put the bottle down." When it says about another state, he was staying near his hometown to go to school, and she was leaving the hometown to go down to school in North Carolina. That is why he's fighting these feelings, because of the distance... and like I previously stated, he fights it by using alcohol. | |

| actually, I take it back. It's not as straight forward as I thought. Thinking about it when it says: - And we run away - Cause the sky looks different when you're in another state I'm not sure what he means by "another state". It could be the alcohol, I guess. - Is it in me - To put the bottle down? So I guess that makes more sense. Yeah, this song is still amazing, though... | |

| i think "Cause the sky looks different when you're in another state" refers to him missing this girl since he is apparently in another united state as in " were to get in a car right now North Carolina is where I would end". i can totally relate to that having just moved to a new state. | |

| i read one of the things about shane's dana. and i know that there are a lot of his songs about dana post-death. but this is one pre-death, cause they played this way before she died. all of his promise of redemption songs off of the first album are also about pre-death. people always think he wrote "from the second..." after she died, but it was before. so yeah, but the new cd should be a lot about how he's grieving now. | |

| i love this song, but i'm disappointed how generic and "normal" these guys are beginning to sound. everything they're playing now is sounding...like everything else. but anyways, it's about a guy who's fighting with reality with his ex-girlfriend, and using alcoholism as a way to cope with this. | |

| A great song from a band I've never previously heard. The song's intro is one of the best heard in a long time (even if it is pop-punk generic). Anyway as far as meaning... It's quite clear that it's a destraught lover fighting his feelings about his ex with Good Ol' Alcohol and him wanting to get over it and see if he has it in himself to "put the bottle down." Well played, Val... well played. | |

| i saw them in concert in september and while i was there some die hard fans told us the story of his girlfriend. apparently she died in a freak accident concerning a lawn mower or something. it was terrible. most of his songs on this album are about her. technically she isnt his ex, x7xdumbblondex7x, she died. he loved her a lot. she switched to a school in north carolina i think for fashion merchandising or something, like you guys said. | |

| that's what I mean moatster. My friend was Dana's cousin Dana died while driving one of those lawn mowers and she went up on a hill and it got caught in some weeds or something, and the lawn mower fell on top of her...and well you get the rest. But the song isn't refering to alcoholism, because shane drinks, but he's not an alcoholic of any sort. and for some reason he says 'casey' instead of dana in the song, which my friend and I just sing over that part when we hear it and say 'dana' since that's what it SHOULD be.... but dana was gorgeous and I know shane misses her ALOT, they were talking even about getting married =/ | |
