Artist: VAST
Album: Visual Audio Sensory Theater
Song: Touched
Tabbed by: Ryan Sanders (ryan@ricknyephotography.com)
Date: March 4, 2001
I just saw VAST last week in concert, and they ROCKED!!! I now officially love these guys,
so I set out to learn how to play my favorite song of theirs, Touched. Here it is, let
me know if you see anything wrong with it.
INTRO: (acoustic)
e|------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------|
G|------------------------------------------------|
D|------------------------------------------------| play 4 times before he starts singing
A|-4--4-4--4--4-4-4-4-4-4--4--4-4--6--6-6-6-6-6-6-|
E|-2--2-2--5--5-5-5-5-5-5--4--4-4--7--7-7-7-7-7-7-|
then keep playing while he sings "touched... you say that I am too..."
play through the weird people singing in the background, also.
then come in with this when the piano starts playing:
POST-INTRO/POST-CHORUS RIFF:
e|------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-9--9-9-9--9-9-9-9-9--6--6-6-6--4--4-4-4-4-4-4-4--2-2-2-2-2-|
D|-9--9-9-9--9-9-9-9-9--6--6-6-6--4--4-4-4-4-4-4-4--2-2-2-2-2-|
A|-7--7-7-7--7-7-7-7-7--4--4-4-4--2--2-2-2-2-2-2-2--0-0-0-0-0-|
E|------------------------------------------------------------|
i can't show the rhythm very well.. you'll get it if you listen to the song.
PRE-VERSE: use HEAVY DISTORTION!
e|-----------------------------|
B|-----------------------------|
G|-----------------------------|
D|-----------------------------| play this twice
A|-4-4-4-4-4-4---4-4-4-4-4-4-6-|
E|-2-2-2-2-2-5---5-4-4-4-4-4-7-|
after jon starts singing again, come back in with the intro riff.
play the pre-verse riff again while he sings "i'll never find someone..."
then keep playing the same riff, but eliminate the spaces. keep playing the
chord when you change, don't stop in between.
then play the post-intro/post-chorus riff, with heavy distortion.
BRIDGE: clean acoustic. figure out the rhythm
e|------------|
B|------------|
G|-9-----7----|
D|-9--6--7--7-|
A|-7--6--5--7-|
E|----4-----5-|
"i looked into your eyes and saw..."
play post-intro/post-chorus again once.
then play pre-verse again until end of song.
There it is. Is that kind of confusing? I don't know how else to explain it. I think
if you listen to the song, you'll hear exactly what I mean with everything. Enjoy!

| This song is actually a rather sad one. It is about the same woman he sings about in Pretty When You Cry. Its actually about trying very hard to stay in a dying relationship, and basically, not having the strength to let go. but then, isnt that the best part of posting your thoughts? it's only a thought. Nonetheless, A truly beautiful song....T4S. | |

| That really takes audacity to compare Jon's work to shit like Evanescence. | |

| It was the first vast song i heard.. I saw a video of rurouni kenshin with this song and then i started to looking for vast songs.. Its intoxicant (in a good way) Very good song, very unusual song like most of Vast songs.. It can be played unplugged and will be incredible by the same way.. | |

| I first heard this song when I caught the video. The music, lyrics and the video were simply haunting. Having fallen in love with someone I could not hold onto who passed through my life all too quickly, I felt like the song could have been written for me. For myself, emotionally, the song was simply devastating. | |

| This is an amazing song. It's so dynamic, and all the elements just fit so well together. The lyrics, and the music, and choir in the background are just, as someone above me said, insane. It's such a hauntingly beautiful song, and I feel the same way about it today as I felt when I heard it two years ago. Especially when, at that time, my best friend, someone I loved beyond all belief, had left me. We're friends again now, but this song still gets me every time. | |

| i like to play this song very loud and I usually wind up putting it on repeat for a few times... it has one of my favorite lines of all time in it: "i looked into your eyes and saw a world that does not exist i looked into your eyes and saw a world I WISH I WAS IN" says so much with so little words... beautifully sad. | |

| I first heard this song with my sister. (she and all her roommates are obsessed with vast, as am I) It hit me as a wonderfully sad but beautiful song, with such meaning. It is one of those songs that make you (or, at least me) want to turn it up, until it is shamefully loud, and just get lost in it. It's great. It's one of my all-time favorites. | |

| i love this song. i don't know what else i can really say about it. it just makes me wish i was in love because i love to feel that way...possessed and just completely out of my head. this song sounds absolutely crazy and that's the way love is. | |

| Wow. Music to this song is so great! So different. Kind of like how the lyrics do'nt match the music, as I thought it would. This song also kind of reminds me of the song by Evanescence. With the girl singing in the beginning, with the quiet music, and then it getting much louder a little later. | |

| I love this song sooooo much! I first heard it when I had just fallen in love for the first time. Its been 2 years now and I still love her as much as I did that day. This song still reminds me of her. The mix between heavy music and loving lyrics makes me shudder it so good! WELL DONE JON! | |

| i don't know what to say about this song simply that it's astounding and to me it means that once you believe you've found that special someone, you can't change the fact that they're gone or have gone. the song proves to me that you have no control over your life and bad things are going to happen and love is not something easily controlled. it's rather depressing once thought about. | |
