i agree with stormchaser, but i think this song has a more religious....for lack of a better word, inclination. like with that whole "your life will be saved" thing, i think it's about salvation, but then again, i'm an atheist, i don't believe in things like that.

It's about being at that point in your life when can't seem to keep your head above water. You're in a haze, and you're literally drowning. After a while, you may stop struggling, and accept the misfortune you've been dealt ("It's not so bad down here, underwater, Once you get past the fear, underwater"). However, the song reminds us that there is always someone or something to rescue us. No matter how bad the situation, don't give up....your life will be saved.
