I think not every song is about a friend or lover. Musician had an interview back in the day... the interviewer said this song was about "the price of female self-denial in the face of the male sense of entitlement", backed up by what Louise Post said in the interview: "I've seen all those kids having a hard time deciding what to do with their lives, or having problems with drugs, feeling worthless," Post adds. "I don't feel confident or competent in this world." That's what "Celebrate You" is about: "It started with my father and extended to the other men in my life," she says. "I spent so much time celebrating them that I sort of neglected to celebrate myself or even acknowledge myself in that way."

I think it's about losing a friend or a lover. Not literally losing them but having them drift away or break up with you.

I wish someone would comment on these songs. Big fans probably know more about what they mean than I do. But is this about sexual abuse? The last two verses mainly make me think that...

I feel like the first two verses start off about a girl who's not longer with her lover and she goes to a party of his, all dressed up to show him what he's missing. But she misses him too much and she starts cracking up. The last two verses shift to something much darker, and I'm not sure exactly what they're about.
