"Velvet Morning" by The Verve
Taken from the album Urban Hymns
A
Yes
E
It's been long
A
And yes
D
I still feel strong
A
Into the half light
E D A E
Another velvet morning for me, yeah
Time
Stands still
As you take
Your last pill
Into the half light
Another velvet morning for me
A
And now I'm trying to tell you
E
About my life
D
And my tongue is twisted
E
And more dead than alive
A
And my feelings
E
They've always been betrayed
D
And I was born a little damaged man
E
And look what they made
A E D
I said, don't you find
E
That it's lonely
A E
The corridor
D E
You walk there alone
A E
And life is a game
D E
You've tried
A E
And life is a game
D E
You're tired
Yes
I'm coming down
Your beauty is
A color surround
Into the half light
Another velvet morning for me
And now I'm trying to tell you
About my life
And my tongue is twisted
And more dead than alive
And my feelings
My feelings, they've been betrayed
And I was born a little damaged man
And look what they made
He said, don't you find
That it's lonely
The corridor
You walk there alone
And life is a game
You've tried
And life is a game
You're tired
And life is a game
You've tried

| Great song, i've often wondered if there's any link to the velvet underground what with the title plus the fact that "more dead than alive" is a lyric from "I'm Waiting For The Men". I don't know whether this is just coincidence or if there are more references to the VU in the song. | |

| To me this song is a combination of spiralling depression because of a relationship gone bad/not happened in the first place and there is now drug taking and the contemplation of suicide because he's tired of life and the kicks in the teeth that come with it. | |

| Stick this on after a night on the nonsense with some close friends and TRY and tell me this isn't one of the greatest songs ever written. | |
