By the way, those lyrics are wrong. Here are the corrected ones: The winning days are gone Because I know just where I'm seeing Was giving eyes I know I can hear Cause underneath there's gold I'll need to get around to find it And when I want to go I can dream I've been trying All my time I'm just seeing it rise Cause it could be the land that's over me So I just want to let it breathe The winning days are gone Because I know just where I'm seeing Was giving eyes I know I can hear Cause underneath there's gold I'll need to get around to find it When I wanna go I can dream I've been trying All my time I'm just seeing it rise Cause it could be the land that's over me So I just wanna let it breathe Get up and go outside It can help your mind too Get up, don't hide away Cause I know where there's gold I didn't know when I was flying I'm sinking like a stone I can dream I've been trying

one of their best for sure. sung beautifully & simple yet poetic words. i love the way he switches where you would expect to hear certain words: 'Because I know just WHERE I'm SEEING Was giving EYES I know I can HEAR'. you would expect to hear WHAT i'm seeing or where i'm GOING........and writing those words like that gives a sense of everything being connected in the way that we feel & experience things in life. the vines' songs are lyrically simple but the music they compose is full & rich & meant to be played LOUD! like this song. this song sounds even better when the volume is turned way up on the stereo.

Craig and Patrick in an interview: Craig: “ Winning Days is Number 6 – it’s the start of the second side if you were thinking about it as an old record – and it’s about what you think about at different times, how you feel different. It wasn’t really a song when I first wrote it, more just a poem really. That was a really long time ago. It’s also one of our best songs, I think. Although the words can sound a bit kind of down, the melody is happier.” Patrick: “ When Craig originally played me the song and I had a cassette copy, I wrote down the title as ‘Wedding Days’. I thought Stone Roses at the time. The up-beat end section has incredible Beach Boys-style harmonies, very complex but rhythmically compatible with each other.”
