My dad, Rocky Staats, figured out the chords and I figured out the words
of the Song *Invisible
City by the Wallflowers. There may be some mistakes in our
transcription, especially the words, but it should be
helpful enough for you to use.

Invisible City
E Asus2
Looking back at the crash site,
E Asus2
I don't see me by the road side.
E G#
Well this heart is on wheels tonight,
C#m C#m7 A
Straight through the ghettos and without
lights.
E Asus2
Now every heart has a blind side,
E Asus2
Where he learns how to improvise.
E G#
Well this place is a whorehouse tonight,
C#m C#m7 A
Cheaper lovers make expensive wives--

C#m E B
G#
--But all of these horses that you chase
around,
C#m C#m7 F# F#m
In the end they are the ones that always
bring you
B
down.

This invisible city, Where no one sees nothing.
Where touching faces--In the dark.
Feeling pretty is so hard.
Now all of these voices,
And all of these noises.
With all of their illusions of choices,
They've come to my door with one dozen roses.
The imitation of good thief,
Is how you stumble upon hate.
It may of been the first of mistakes,
When we held on to listening that opened the gates--

--Now all of these horses that you chase around,
In the end they are the ones that always bring you
down.

This invisible city, where no one sees nothing.
Where touching faces--In the dark.
Feeling pretty is so hard.
Now I try not to tell lies,
But there's pressures from inside.
So I've learned how to compromise,
Good people for alibis--

--But all of these horses that you chase around,
In the end they are the ones that always bring you
down.

This invisible city, where no one sees nothing.
Where touching faces--In the dark.
Feeling pretty is so hard.

I'm not EXACTLY clear on the meaning... but this is one of the songs that I listen to when I've been hurt by a guy

I think the song is about relationships maybe someone that wont love him. "But all of these horses That you chase around In the end they are the ones That always bring you down" this just makes me think of a girl that keeps going with jerks and here is a that knows he is perfect for her. The song in gerenal kinda talks about this but thats just me

This song is about being disillusioned in life and running around and around only to find out that you're just chasing yourself. BTW- Note the line, "all these horses that you chase around..." In the song, Feels Like Summer Again, it says, "I buried my horse in a shallow grave, then I said a few things. I had champagne. That beast gave me everything that nobody gave." So, in the end, the speaker learns to come to terms with his problems and find true meaning in life.

"This invisible city Where no one sees nothing We're touching faces in the dark Feelin' pretty is so hard" We don't know anything about anyone at all. We're blind, we see nothing, and the only way we can learn about each other is by grasping blindly. "Well this place is a whorehouse tonight Cheaper lovers make expensive wives But all of these horses..." If these horses are guys, and cheaper lovers are girls, then they're playing the same role. And there are so many of both, it's like a whorehouse. I see a lot of parallels like this in "One Headlight"
