Hello!
I'm the one who posted the lyrics to this. After some fiddling around, I
got most of it down (not very accurate, but at least will give you a start)
Please don't criticize this (but I do love corrections!), I'm a 15-year-old
guitarist in a local band, and don't claim to know all of the music theory
stuff, I just play it like it sounds.
---= Mykel & Carli by WEEZER =---
Intro:
NOTE: Intro not played with power chords, but open chords!
G, C, D, (Funky chords*)
* The funky chords are:
(D) (G)
e --2-2--2--2--3--------------------------------------------
B --3-3--3--3--3--------------------------------------------
G --2-2--0--2--0--------------------------------------------
D ----------------------------------------------------------
A ----------------------------------------------------------
E ----------------------------------------------------------
NOTES: The 2-3-0 is a D chord with a finger pulled off
The 3-3-0 is the bottom of the G chord. I can't really switch
as fast when putting on the whole G chord, but it still
sounds ok like I have it transcribed.

Back in Wilson High, I had two best friends
They lived down the block
Where the road stop is
G5 E5 F#5 G5
What'cha get for my bones, they fed my icecream cones
What'cha get for my happiness, wouldn't leave me alone
There is an interlude guitar riff after these versus:
----------------------------------------------------------

---12-14-14-14-12-----------------------------------------

Back in Wilson High, said I had two best friends
Until the schoolbus came
And took away my friends
Now I'm left alone at home, to sit and think all day
They gave me a hat, the hat was awful rad
Wore it every day, made my teacher mad
She tore it off my head, now my head's well, red
It gets golden-nice sometimes, but I can't be mislead

Here you lead, Mykel
Here you lead, Carli
Here you lead, Mykel
Here you lead, Carli
-last verse:
oh oh no, Mykel
oh oh no, Carli

i mean some people mentioned this, but does anyone else find it EXTREMLEY FREAKY that =w= talked about the school bus thing 3 years b4 they died? i always thought it was after. woah...weezer must be some kind of psycics. maybe its something like the bible code. we should write the songs backward and take the third vowel from the fourth consanant in each line and see if we can predict the next terrorist atack

BoundenInABond, that is wrong, and funny, and I think we both need to stop watching those Bible Secrets things on the History Channel This is just another fun Weezer song that is a tribute to Mykel and Carli for their support. It is just an unfortunate that the song can be related to something other than school starting now.

i think this about the people that ran the weezer fan club and died in a car crash. i'm not sure, but the green album is dedicated to them. has anyone any idea when this was recorded?

This song is about Mykel and Carli. They were sisters who were fans of Weezer when they were still struggling in L.A. After Weezer hit it big with the blue Album (in fact, one of the girls is the voice of the girl in Undone (The Sweater Songg), they asked Mykel and Carli to set up the Weezer fan club and to send lyrics to all Weezer songs to anyone who asked. In return for their efforts, Rivers wrote this song, and was occasionally played at concerts. Unfortunately, Mykel, Carli, and their sister died in an accident on-route to a Weezer song. When hearing of the death of the girls, Weezer went up on stage and performed the song in their memory. They later attended the funeral for the girls. The second verse, regarding the hat and the teacher removing it, makes me think of the singer trading something emotional for something intellectual. The hat represents emotions, things that make you feel "warm and fuzzy." "My head gets cold at night sometimes" is the singer missing those emotions, with nothing to make him warm and fuzzy. "But I can't be mislead." Instead he has intellect, which keeps him from being tricked. He's cold, but efficient.

the song was originally a demo called 'please pick up the phone' in '92. several months after he recorded the demo he met mykel and carli and after earning their support, he re-worked the words in their honor. (according to blue album deluxe edition booklet)
