"Another example of a genre parody would be "Everything You Know Is Wrong", which is a parody of They Might Be Giant's general style. " Woudln't that be a style parody? Genre parodies sound like they would be a parody of a genre, not a specific band.

If you can listen to this song without laughing, you have no sense of humour. Even the intro's funny.

I don't think it's a parody of anyone's style, except maybe those Bob the Builder songs that were released a couple of years ago.

I'm pretty sure this song started out as what he called a "genre parody", but then got really off track. Another example of a genre parody would be "Everything You Know Is Wrong", which is a parody of They Might Be Giant's general style.

I think he actually runs the 3rd verse several times... It sounds to me like every extra voice that comes in is his own during the list. Still, I love the "Let's Go Band" riff that gets used in the intro and bridges, and the build up at 2:07 sounds really cool. I think that if you managed to cut the lyrics from this song, it would almost sound serious.

Kudos to Rjbucs28 for the third verse and the rest of the song!! I have to memorize this song by the beginning of the scool year so I can show of to everyone. That will give me plenty of time... *cackles*

One of Al's BEST original songs, without doubt. The idea of someone getting that excited over something as boring as a hardware store is just really frikin' funny.

Is an "automatic circumciser" a tool? because it may not be what it sounds like. I really don't want to google it (the fear of what may come up is too great).

I don't think they sped up the list part, they just edited out where they took breaths.
