White Stripes - I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Tuning: Standard (E A D G B E)
NOTE: This is a very simple song, sort of a classic rock
sound overall. Though the song actually has three guitars,
it can easily be played with just one, as long as you own
a distortion pedal of some sort. In the middle of the chorus
there's a part which may seem a bit confusing. In this part
Jack White yells "Sweet. - Love. - " and there is some feedback,
and it generally sounds very rough but cool. To get that feedback
and that sound you have to have a ton of distortion so that when you
lift your finger up from that Fsus4, there's a ringing
which will create the effect Jack uses in this song. The lifting
is shown by the pull off in the tab. Enjoy!
Legend:
x - mute
~ - vibrato
Pm - Palm mute
p - pull off
(#.#) - harmonic
^ - bend

| Does anybody else think this is a song about masturbation? Great video, by the way. Although, now that I know that it's a Bacharach song I'm doubting it. | |

| this song makes me think of suicide. like this person broke up with their lover or their lover died, and this person is depressed and does not know what to do exept suicide maybe. i always picture someone holding a gun against their own head at the end of this song | |

| Kate Moss totally pole dances to this song in their film clip, and this song capsulates the image of lonely singledom. | |

| First off i wanna say...there are a lot of songs i think the white stripes could do kickass covers off. Most of the song is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. I was confused by the "beat love away" part at first, but i think what hes sayin is any love he would feel that wasnt for the girl would seem pointless and seeing love pains him, so he needs her sweet love to push away his feelings of longing. | |
