You can't compare The White Stripes to Led Zeppelin, that is totally ignorant. I love the stripes, and you people don't even realize how good of lyricist John Gillis is, this song is about how all the indie rock fans are so into the music before it's popular and then as soon as it's popular they turn their backs on the band and put it down. And for all you "fans" out there John Gillis aka Jack White.

okay, on this i agree that the lyrics arent their best, but it doesnt mean that all their lyrics suck, and if you think they do, then listen more carefully.

bosco, while you make a good point about the old-school, I disagree that the white stripes are not brilliant lyricists. If you read Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, some of those lyrics are really clever and touching in some ways.

Worst white stripes song. Whenever I listen to WBC i have to skip it. The lyrics are not bad, but the way they play it and how they keep on repeating the same rythm is just awful!

it's true, this song captures something without millions of layers going on. the more you can simplify something big, the more clever you are really. i like it, it's simple but unexpected. i can see why it'd be annoying though.

yoshemitzu couldn't have put it better. ANYONE who KNOWS the White Stripes knows what they're about. 'The Seven nation army' (army who only latched on because of that one song) just don't QUITE get them.

The message of this song is simply put, which makes all the more powerful, in my opinion. Tool, I don't know why you think that is what the song is about. The song is talking about adolescents who grow up in medium-to-high-income families that act like delinquents. I know people who are like this, and they're irritating as hell. I always think of this song when I'm around them.

i actually do think this is a great song, maybe not their best, but the lyrics r good and the tune is creative i think its about a loner kind-of kid who is really strange and thinks the world is treating him unfairly, so he blames it all on everyone else (btw, white stripes is my favorite band)
