Artist: The White Stripes
Song: One More Cup Of Coffee
Originally by Bob Dylan
Submitted By: Stetson Keely
Album: White Stripes (Debut)
Its pretty simple: Pretty much exactly the same as the Bob Dylan version really.
Its a shame people dont tab many songs off the White Stripes first album,
they're really hard to find but this is one of the best ones.
INTRO:
e -----------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------------
G--------2--------------------------------------1------
D--------2------7--9--7--5--3--5--7--5--3--2----2------

B-------1-----1-----
G-------2-----2--1--
D-------2-----3--2--
A-----0-0--2-----2--
E--0h3-----3--------
VERSE:
Am
You breath is sweet and weak your eyes like
G
two jewels in the sky
F
your back is straight your hair is smooth
E
on the pillow where you lie
e-------
B-------
G-------
D--0-1-2
A-------
E-------
Am
but i dont sense affection
G
no gratitude no love
F
your loyalty is not to me
E
but to the stars above
CHORUS:
F (let ring) E
One more cup of coffee for the road
F (let ring) E
One more cup of coffee 'fore i go
(no chord) Am
to the valley below
Break: Am G F E
Verse 2:
your daddy is an outlaw
and a wonderer by trade
he'll teach you how to pick and choose
and how to throw the blade
he oversees his kingdom
so no stranger does intrude
his voice it trembles as he calls out
for another plate of food
CHORUS
Break: Am G F E
Verse 3:
your sister sees the future
like your mother and yourself
you dont know how to read or write
theres no books upon your shelf
but your pleasure knows no limits
and your voice is like a mellow lark
your heart is like the ocean
mysterious and dark
CHORUS
::What a season to be beautiful without a reason::

| Don't the lyrics go: "Your sister seize the future" instead of "sees the future"? I know it's not gramatically correct but after all it's only a song and this way it would make more sense to me... | |

| Correct title is "One More Cup Of Coffee", not "One Last Cup Of Coffee". | |

| I like this song - it isn't as heavy as their other songs, but it still has that thumpthump. I've actually never noticed how simple Meg's drumming was until I started listening to other bands, but I still love her. It looks so endearing watching her play. | |

| I think the white stripes are incredible at covering songs, purely because they have the ability of makeing them their own - like jolene and i just dont know what to do with myself bob dylan's version is amazing because he wrote it and made the original and played it well, and the white stripes made it theirs and play it in their own style which mades it great!! :P | |

| actually, i haven't heard the studio version from desire, but i must say that dylan's live version with the rolling thunder revue sounds much better, lots of emotion in the vocals and i like the bassist's backup singing. still a great stripes tune though. | |

| Nice cover of Bob Dylan's "One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below)" from Desire. Original is excellent with Emmy Lou Harris singing backup vocals. | |

| I do think that though dues are owed to Bob Dylan for the original, The White Stripes did the better version. | |

| Ahh this is a wonderful song, and this version is incredible... wish i could sing like that. It is so often the case that bob dylan songs are better when covered (not detracting from the great man at all) and this just showcases the amazingness of the stripes. | |

| I actually haven't heard this version, but I read an interview with Bob Dylan where he said this song inspired by the idea of meeting the King of the Gypsies, who turned out to be just some guy living in a trailer. He co-wrote it with Jacques Levy. | |
