I rarely am this excited about song lyrics: Jack White's songwriting is brilliant. Yeah, it's another send off to an ex-lover, but the language he uses is masterful- "I'd like to think that all of this constant interaction Is just the kind of make you drive yourself away Each simple gesture done by me is counteracted And leaves me standing here with nothing else to say Completely baffled by a backward indication That an inspired word will come across your tongue Hands moving upward to propel the situation Have simply halted Now the Conversation's done" Simply lovely. It almost makes me want to find a girl, date her, and break up with her simply to be able to use this in a sentence.

i LOVE this song the beginning makes me think of bohemian rhapsod y for some reason.. yea its about an ex gf but its so complete and every emotion that i can imagine about anger is in this the mirror is about not being able to look at her because of something she did so he just talks to her while looking condescendantly into a mirror but this song is REALLY good i love it

It's mostly just the bass line, or the tuned down guitar whatever it is he uses. Other than that, they are totally different. This is one of my favorite songs off the album, in Rolling Stone magazine they called Jack 'the master of distortion' if you listen to this song you'll know why.

The Amazon.com review dude called this song "Queen-inspired," and you can definitely see it with the multitude of people singing at the beginning and during the chorus. The versus don't sound much like Freddie Mercury, but that's why it's "inspired" and not a "rip-off." Makes sense, too, since they recorded this album in England.

i love the line "so completely stupid. just go away." twinpavilion said above that this is a 'chapter two' of dead leaves. i really hope it is, and the musical similarities are delibrate. otherwise jacks got a bit of explaining to do. great song but their older stuff is better (not that that's an original thing to say about a band but its true)
