| A lot of the lyrics for this song are incorrect. For example: "You know it's like me at times I can be careless But your words seem so obtuse" is incorrect, it should be "You don't strike me as the type to be callous But your words seem so obtuse" | |

| Well, I remember when "ringing someone's doorbell" was a euphemism for turning someone on... and they will "open the doors" for you. He does not know a man that only settles for kisses and holding hands (this song is therefore an opposite of 'We're going to be friends'). He is just waiting for a girl to come and turn him on... he has been going t see stripshows and such (And I've (the lyrics here miss the 've) been going to mystery misses / I respect the art of the show). He is just waiting for someone to make the first move. | |

| the white stripes have a unique way of dealing with fast.fresh.fame and staying grounded enough to maintain a creative edge. i like this song and the video. This may seem a bit too ambiguous but the lyrics: Make a sound and I'll make you feel right Right at home, yeah can be taken as, anything you say i will consciously accept... uncontested to maintain some kind of balance. anything you say will be ok. | |

| i think the song is mostly about taking people for granted, the chorus is just like saying that after an argument with his girl, it's just a matter of time before she comes back home. The bridge says that she "don't seem to come around, not since i said you knocked it down" indicates that maybe this time she's had enough and won't be coming back. "Take back what you said little girl and while you're at it take yourself back too" shows how angry he is with his lady, and then the chorus' are picturing the stubborness of jack, not saying sorry but confident that she'll return like always. The "friends, they're all above me" line is based around the theme of ghosts that seems to dominate the album. | |

| Is it? 'Well, women and children and kisses' or ... 'Well with me and chipin' me and kisses?' I have no idea wtf chipn' means. Also... 'Woman whatcha gonna do now, whatcha gonna do about it' sang.as... 'Cause I'm tired of sittin' here, waitin', Woman whatcha gonna do now, whatcha gonna do about it Also missing lyrics after ?... 'Nobody gotten away with it baby. But how come it's so easy to you' Interpretation: Well, women and children and kisses Not the man in my life I know ... not the typical relationship, maybe she wants(?) and he knows but cant get past the way she is... callous And I been going to mystery misses I respect the art of the show ... hes figured out her ways and has to resort to games(making him mysterious) to keep the show going Take back what you said little girl And while you're at it take yourself back too ...basically the game is up 'Cause I'm tired of sittin' here, waitin', Woman whatcha gonna do now, whatcha gonna do about it ... waiting for her to change her ways Nobody gotten away with it baby. But how come it's so easy to you ... hes never let anyone get to him this way so easily You don't strike me as the type to be callous But your words seem so obtuse ...wolf in sheep’s clothing But then again I know you feel guilty And you tell me you want me again ...she has obviously said she doesn’t need him so she is a bit unstable here But I don't need any of your pity I got plenty of my own friends They're all above me ... friends usually see things lovers overlook Make a sound and I'll make you feel right Right at home, yeah Yeah, right at home, yeah ...Hes weak for her so anything she says he just accepts... (or the obvious ring the bell and ill let you in...) anyways if you have had a relationship(i hope you never do!) like this it is easy to interpret in this light, not that it is right, just my thoughts. | |

| And...I'm of the apparently very small school that sees this as a song about Renee and her friends. Brilliance in art freuently comes out of suffering, and this breakup really tore him up. He never really fit in with "her crowd", and I really think the first 3 songs on this album are his reaction to this. I know people who have met them when they were together (a local recording studio producer friend of mine, and a friend of my wife) and - while they did have a weird chemistry - it was still really a case of him having his world, and she having hers. While he lived with it when they were together - because he loved her - he knew there was a big disconnect between the Hollywood crowd and the Detroit bar scene crowd (which he never outgrew, despite his fame). This is him getting out the frustration that never got to him back when the times were good. No, I don't *know* that this is what the song is about. But, based on what I've heard from the above people, it certainly seems likely. | |
