i wonder how the directors of the video tried to explain thier video concept to the white stripes and other executives..."ah, we are gonna have a bunch of strobe lights and have the camera zoom threw these triangles and and different shots of the band.." lol, well the video is like an optical illusion kinda like if you watch it straight with your head up it looks like your going forward and when you have your head laying down it looks like its going downwards kinda crazy. awesome song tho nice rhymth, my friends and i were debating wether 1) a bass player filled in for the song... 2) or jack used a sub-octave effect to make it sound like a bass (my idea from guitarist point of view) anyone know?

The title comes from what Jack thought the Salvation Army was called when he was a child.

I think this song is about revenge, like Risk said... In the first verse he says "they're gonna rip it off taking their time right behind my back", and i think it means some kind of plot against him... "and i'm talking to myself at night because I can't forget... back and forth through my mind behind a cigarette", to me, means that he already noticed them ploting against him. And finally, the part "..and if i catch you comin' back my way i'm gonna sell it to you" could mean that he's finally decided to do something about it... his revenge... It could always mean that the voice in my head made me write this crap, but i doubt it, because i actualy think i submitted this on my own....

The song is killer, so simple but so good. The video is awesome too, one of the best 3 minute songs I've ever heard.

i agree on no with this one. the lyrics that are printed on the album sleeve are the ones that no quotes. also, i agree with the interpretation that he is running from a problem. Q magazine said that it was about a man agressively pursuing a girl. that is ridiculous. of course, the Q article stated as truth that jack and meg are bro/sis, which is also bs. also, no, you seemed unsure of yourself in regards to the line "all the words are gonna bleed from me and i will think no more." i think your interpretation is right on. this band wouldn't be half as good if not for the depth of the lyrics. although some songs are light on content and heavy on instrumentation, it is the more lyrically intricate songs that set this band apart from clones.

hey my interpretation of this song is bit different.... Just thought it may have something to do with the media and interviews... As in how everyone's got a story to tell about them... Everyone has something to say about the band, he is doing interviews so much that he's talking in his sleep... he's going to wichita to getaway from it all... sell his message.... i dont know, thats just my thoughts... it'd be awesome if the actual bands could come on here and clarify it all.... anyone know if they're coming to australia any time soon?!
