I love this song. I think it is saying that it is impossible to do anything without offending someone. Also, people who have offended already are trapped because the "offendees"(ppl. who have been offended) always find a way to be offended.

jimmytheexpolder how can you only own the white blood cells album, when the song Jimmy The Exploder is on the first self titled album White Stripes? I doubt you'l ever actually reply as you did write that like 3 years ago..feels strange knowing that.

THis song reminds me alot of myself, if it means what I think it does anyway. To me it sounds like, especialy in the last verse, that he hates the way the we are sort of forced to talk to each other, make stupid small talk and saying things like "How are you" and "Glad to meet you" when you don't really care how the person is or you're not actually glad to meet someone when you don't even no them. Anyway, that's what it sounds like to me, that he is offending people because he doesn't talk like them.

This is one of my all-time favorate songs, not just because it rocks balls, but also because the lyrics really strike a chord with me. To me, the song is about having a dissenting opinion from the norm and how no matter how you try to express your opinion, people get a prejudicial mindset toward you. It reminds me of a play I wrote that had anti-evolutionary theme to it. When it was produced, everyone laughed (as it was a comedy) right up to the end where one character asks the other to examine why they believe what they believe; if they knew it to be true because they'd examined it, or if they were just accepting what someone else said was the truth. I was almost lynched (litterally) for asking a simple question. Several of my "friends" cornered me after the show and were frothing at the mouth angry with me. Several people never would speak to me again after that. "You tell me to relax, and listen to these facts, that everyone's my friend... and will be to the end. But I know this much is true: no matter what I do... no matter what I say... offend in every way." BTW, the second and third verses of this song are switched around in the above transcription.

these lyrics are wrong its actually: I'm patient of this plan as humble as I can I'll wait another day before I turn away but know this much is true no matter what I do offend in every way I don't know what to say I'm coming through the door but they're expecting more of an interesting man and sometimes I think I can but how much can I fake I'll speak until I break with every word I say offend in every way You tell me to relax and listen to these facts that everyone's my friend and will be till the end but know this much is true no matter what I do Just thought it would be nice if you guys new the true ordr of things no matter what I say offend in every way

I thought this song was a kind of feminist song. No matter what this person does its wrong because shes a woman.
