There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesn't seem to move at all
Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor

Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
He's come to a sticky end (creepy, crawly)
Don't think he will ever mend (creepy, crawly)
Never more will he crawl 'round (creepy, crawly)
He's embedded in the ground (creepy, crawly)

| Yeah, I don't think there's really any deeper meaning to this song...I read in a book that it was about John's arachnophobia. | |

| It's about arachnaphobia. I love drug-induced inspiration because it seems to make the mind go to places nobody ever imagined. I played this song and it annoyed my youngest sister to no end. It is one of the funniest songs of all time. Kudos to the master of all bass players! | |

| Entwhistle wrote this because he was afraid of spiders when he was a child. I also heard another theory in which "Boris the Spider" represented the Soviet Union, which creeped and crawled to execute their "evil deeds", which means The Who was making fun of the paranoia of the Cold War at the time. | |

| Actually on "Left for Live", John explains the meaning of the song. It's a song dedicated to his pet spider which had died a couple of days prior to him writing the song. "This one's for Doris the spider, it's called Boris the Spider." | |

| K each member had to write a song or 2 for the album at least, and the producers would give them a lot of money, so they did it, and this was one that John Entwhistle did, cuz he usually didn't usually write songs. He wasn't high, he wasn't making fun of the Soviet, he just wanted to have a fun song and express himself. Well, he really made it fun :D I have to admit at random times I just start singing "Creepy, Crawly, Creepy, Crawly, Creepy Creepy, Crawly Crawly" etc. :D | |
