this song's melody is waaaaaayy too fucking happy... but w/e it's about a guy who acts all rich in front of everyone to hide what he really is inside.. "...I look all white but my dad was black..." "... Substitute my coke for gin..." just one thing... DONT fucking say this song is about drugs. these people piss me off, not every single song is made for drugs, about drugs, on the influence of drugs. Think just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle more.

On the BBC Sessions CD Pete tells the radio guy that this song has no meaning, at least he wasn't thinking about a meaning when writing it. Sorry guys :)

I think it's a bit more than The Who being a substitute for the Rolling Stones, but that is definitely part of it. Mostly, I think it's about false appearances.

Love this song, especially the line when he says that, with his mom at least he'd get his washing done. Its about a guy dating a rich girl and she thins he's rich too but in reality he is not and he's sick of pretending.
