A* and G* represent an F-barre chord (i.e. xx7655 and xx5433).
Where I have the chord over the middle of a syllable (or in some cases
over underscores at the end of a word), play the chord about an eighth
note behind. In the section where I have the chords in between words,
strum the chord twice (eighth notes). Listen to the recording.

| I can't believe that nobody has commented on THE ACTUAL MEANING of this song yet. Gosh the abuse of this site is horrible. Anyway, I will avoid hypocrisy and comment. The song is pretty self explanatory, I think. It's about that apathy you feel when you realize that you need to trust your friends and your girl that they'll only be dancing. | |

| They once introduced this song at a concert like this: Roger: "This song is about a girl I APPARENTLY promised to marry when I was six" Pete: "What do you mean 'apparently'?" Since it was written by Townshend, I think it was probably a joke that Roger would have to sing about an event he would rather forget. | |
