Subject: CRD: Box Full of Letters by Wilco

This is a real cool, easy song. I've seen Jeff use a capo live, so
I did the same thing. It is also simple without one (I wrote the chords
down for convience, without capo play E B A Gbm A instead of D A D Em
G).

Box Full of Letters
Jeff Tweedy
Wilco, A.M. (1995)

Capo at 2 - Chords written 2 1/2 steps down for my convienience

Verse 1:
D A G
I've got a box full of letters
Em G
Think you might like to read
D A G
Some things you might like to read
Em G
But they're all addressed to me
D A G
I wish I had a lot of answers
Em G
'cause that's the way it should be
D A G
But with all these questions
Em G
Being directed at me
D A G
Just can't find the time to write my mind
D
The way I want it to read

[Chorus]
A D G G/F#
You'll come back again
A D G G/F#
And I'll still be your friend

[Verse 2]
I got a lot of your records
In a seperate stack
Somethings I might like to hear
But I guess I'll give 'em back
I wish I had a lot of answers
'cause that's the way it should be
But with all these questions
Being directed at me
Just can't find the time to write my mind
The way I want it to read

[Chorus]
[solo=verse]
D A G
Just can't find the time to write my mind
D
The way I want it to read

This one sounds like its from Jeff Tweedy with love to Jay Farrar. Alot of the tunes on AM are breakup songs which makes me think that thery'e really about the break up of Uncle Tupelo. This one in particular strikes me as being about Uncle Tupelo b/c of the records line, and because there's no lovey dovey stuff. On a lot of the other songs there is a lot of ambiguity as to whether it a romantic breakup or not, but on this one he never really alludes to romance, he just wants to be friends again. Also it seems to me that the questions that he doesn't have answers too are the ones from the media.

i think this song sorta sounds like a person who's old friend moved away, and is writing him, but he's not writing back because he just can't find the time to write his mind the way he wants it to read. but he'll still be his friend when he moves back.
