Home W Wilco Spiders Kidsmoke Chords Guitar Tab

One of my favourite songs off of A Ghost is Born, which is a great album that you
should go out and get, if you don't already own it. I am rather disappointed though
at the lack of any guitar notation at all for many of the songs.
Well, its very easy. Improvise in E minor pentatonic until the obvious chord progression.
It goes:
E D C#m B
More improvisation....
E D C#m B
Through the entire song, feel free to hit the bass notes of the chords.
You can easily figure out the rest of the song from that basic formula. helluva a great
song to jam to. I mean, come on, it's ten minutes long.
DEAD SIMPLE

This song is really obvious. It's about all these people who live these so called complex lives, where really their just weaving this invisble web to trap you in.

Anyone who doesn't like this song doesn't understand Tweedy's vision for Wilco. This is the reason they dropped Bennett, to do more long version, musically diverse, distorted, acidic mixes. My favorite lines are "There's no blood on my hands I just do as I am told" Tweedy is a very hands-off guy outside of his music, and due to his medical issues he just sort of let things happen and worried about them the whole time. This is basically Tweedy saying he's not taking action, he's just going to be hit by whatever wave comes into his life and deal with it as he may.

I didn't really care as much for this album as I did YHF. This just wasn't as consistently solid as its predecessor was. But this is one of the few songs I really dig on this disc. I love how it just chugs along until the "rock-out break," and then just kicks! For guitar players, I figured out he drops the low E to a D, and then uses a capo on the 2nd fret.

i think this song is about chaotic harmony. what is the function of a spider? they exist and allow us not to be over run with insects. they are unpleasant to look at but serve a valuable function. much of our society exists in this world. we could not function without economists, business men, lawyers, etc. they are a neccesary evil. this concept even exists within the guitar being played. the notes sound chaotic and are certainly played wildly but they form a pattern. my ideas anyway. loads more to this song no doubt.

Listen to Brian Eno's "The True Wheel" and then this. Tell me if you're thinking what I'm thinking. Yup. Despite Tweedy's (in my opinion) pure creative genious, this has got to be a rip-off. Exact same rythm and best, very similar keyboard line, and some of the guitar sounds that Tweedy makes seem "inspired" by this. Just listen, it's actually pretty funny. Great song, though. Both of them.

I think the lines "This recent rash of kidsmoke All these telescopic poems It's good to be alone" May be a bit of a jab at the quality (or lack of) in music today.

I agree whole heartedly with Spacecow. I always liked the Kicking Television version a lot more than the Ghost is Born version, but honestly, actually seeing it performed live was what really did it for me. This song is fucking majestic.

I'd say this sounds less like Devo and more like Stereolab, but that's just me.

i didnt like this song at first, i didnt hear the melody in it. but every time i hear it now, it gets better. i think i was listening too hard to it before. the song is so rock and roll, so rebelous and different than anything else.

this song has really strange lyrics. I read in Califerne Magazine about what its supposed to mean ( http://www.califerne.com/articles/?article=036 ) and I know there's a lot in the words but I still have no idea what to think.

This is an awesome concept song. It's all about the building up of all those noises and tensed up guitar grinds into a glorious explosion. Brilliant, I love this song and go crazy when I listen to it.
