| Why do they say it is Tarja Turunen featuring Sharon? xD I just saw a part of the video and the other singer is not even alike Tarja... Lol Though it is a really beautiful song. | |

| i personally think that this song could've been better, the lyrics are SO melancholy, but sharon's voice isn't =/ anyway is it just me or doesn't this song kinda sound like its about mary and jesus? idk, its obviously about a maternal type of mourning, and they're the first ones who popped into my head, but that's just my opinion after all | |

| IMO, this song is obviously about the passing of a loved one, and that our loved ones, dead or alive, watch over us in our time of need and with that said, I've got to say, that the live version of this song is (believe it or not) even more touching and powerful, atleast on my Mother Earth DVD where it's sung as a duet | |

| To me, I see a maternal figure speaking to a younger person. The younger person has had a bad experience in the world, and the singer is trying to comfort them. I believe the farewell in question is the farewell of the old and happy personality for the entrance of the world-weary and grave new one. Sharon is kind of singing as a guardian angel, which is fitting for her beautiful vocals. It could also be about a lover "Embrace" "By my side" but Sharon is comforting them. Beautiful song. =] | |

| The first time I heard Within Temptation, it was this song... Our Farewell. This song was sent to me via email from a person I barely knew... a person who lost his Mother, and lost her much too soon in his life. This song to me means.... a very special bond between Mother and Child that cannot be broken, even in death. Mother's won't leave their children. Ever! Very beautiful song. | |

| The song makes me think of a woman who has just died and can see the impact it has made on her family, particulairy her young child. The way it's written, it makes me think that the singer and the subject are very close, telling each other everything, kind of like a mother-daughter realtionship. I love this song, I have listened to it for so long, and I still love it. Everything about it is beautiful, and the lyrics can be so touching. | |

| Oh, and just to add to my comment above, the chorus is also from the view of the passed one, telling the person still in this world not to worry because even tohugh he/she is gone, they are still with them in heart and memory. | |

| This seems to me like a story from two points of view. The first two verses are from the point of the loved one who is still alive, describing how they miss the other person and are not whole without them. The final verse is from the loved one who has passed, telling the person in the first two verses that they will always be watching them, and see them again one day. Brilliant song. | |
