| These lyrics are so cleche (is that how you spell it?) This is just Key trying his best to write a rock song and not get close to punk. That was his goal on the album. | |

| I always thought he was talking about the entire world and not just a city. like he's been on earth for a while and the time has passed slowly and it gives him time to think about the rest of his life on earth. He also goes on to explain that the world has more evil than good by saying its a city of devils. but this song is so hard to interpret and i could be very wrong, but this is how i've always looked at it. | |

| The race thing has nothing to do with it. I think the angels/devils thing is right, too. I think they feel like they don't fit in the puzzle that is LA. They were thrown in so quickly, and now all anyone around them cares about is the money that they make, not them, and they want to go back to where they feel like nothing else matters but them being them. | |

| When Mexico owned that part of the US they originally named the city "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles". Which means - "The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels". So, "Los Angeles" means "The Angels" people also call it the 'City of Angels'. LA is also one of the biggest urban areas in the US. Dominated by Hollywood, a lot would call it a superficial city full of whores, tramps & 'souless' people. Hence the irony of the song. Calling it the City of Devils. I think the feeling he gets from the city in this song could be shared by anyone in any city when they've realized they've 'been here too long'. When you feel like you could find a better place to be. If you could just leave. | |

| I can totally relate to this song. I always feel like I don't belong in the town I live in. Because most of the people are not my type of persons I would hang out with. And when I had a bad day at school or so, it really helps to sing this song with the volume on the highest. I think what BackHome21 said is true. | |

| I think that the angels/devils part theory is correct. "Time passes so slow." He wants to go back home. "It's hard to find angels..." He needs someone to love? | |

| yellowcardr0ck, i think you were right. You we're being racist, but what you said about the rap/hip hop vs. punk rock genres in LA. Like, i dunno, but most rappers are black, and I mean that in a non-racist way, because it's true. They way you said it just came across wrong to most people. | |

| Yellowcardr0ck, did it ever occur to you that LP himself is black? ;) The race point aside, I think you're right. Then again, the entire album is about getting out of LA. I like the idea of not being able to see the sky at night, and the "city lights burn" - it goes back to Lights and Sounds. | |

| I think you guys should keep in mind that Yellowcard recorded some or most of this cd in New York... maybe they're referring City of Devils to New York while they're missing City of Angels, LA? | |

| In this song, Yellowcard expresses their sense of isolation in Los Angeles. Los Angeles, also known as the "City of Angels", To Yellowcard, its quite the contrary, "City of Devils" They express their isolation through the last lines, "I don't belong", "I've been here too long" Personal Note: The way Key writes the song, to me it may be a conflict between music genres, rap and rock/pop. LA is comprised of many african americans, moreso than florida, which leads me to them being 'the only savior' , "Look at you saving the world on your own". The Chorus only further supports my theory of this being about getting away from LA | |

| Incredible song. I agree that it was probably written about LA, but obviously can be related and applied to any other city. To me, it kind of is just like trying to break away from the influences people have on us and trying to find who we are. I love it. | |
