Yellowcard Rough Landing Holly Chords Guitar Tab

Rough Landing Holly Bass Tab
------------------------------------------------------------------
Title: Rough Landing, Holly
Artist: Yellowcard
Album: Lights And Sounds
Tabbed by: Kinanus
Tuning: Regular (E A D G B E)
Song Key: E Major
------------------------------------------------------------------
Intro:
(Okay I'll explain here in case it looks confusing, you'll play E during four bars, then
during one bar, then G#m during half a bar, then E during half a bar and then again C#m
one bar, then G#m during half a bar and E during half a bar. All of that you'll play for
intro. You'll figure it out pretty fast because it will sound just like the song.)
E x4 - C#m x1 - G#m x½ - E x½ - C#m x1 -
x½ - E x½
Play all of that twice.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse #1:
E
Left the ground in black and white
C#m
And when the plane went down
The colors all around
E
I know by now, the margin's slight
C#m
And still I can't get out
She's all I think about
A
Can’t let her go
B
It's who you know
------------------------------------------------------------------
Chorus:
E C#m
We came down to watch the world walk by
E C#m
And all she found was trouble in my eyes
A F#m
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
E (Right here (Where it says 'go') play the intro only one time)
Let her go, let her go
------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse #2:
E
She moves fast, takes control
C#m
And like a heart attack I know I can't turn back
E
And time just passed, nights moved slow
C#m
And she was all I had
I thought I’d never last
A
Can’t let her go
B
It's who you know
------------------------------------------------------------------
Chorus:
E C#m
We came down to watch the world walk by
E C#m
And all she found was trouble in my eyes
A F#m
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
E (Right here (Where it says 'go') play the intro only one time)
Let her go, let her go
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bridge (Optional, I guess):
E x4 - F#m x4
Play all of that twice.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Chorus:
E C#m
We came down to watch the world walk by
E C#m
And all she found was trouble in my eyes
A F#m
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Chorus/Outro:
E C#m
She calls out the farther that I fly
E C#m
I love that sound so give me one more line
A F#m
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
E (Right here (Where it says 'go') play the intro twice)
Let her go, let her go
Let her go, let her go
------------------------------------------------------------------
End on E and let it ring.

Anybody else notice how yellowcard sort of stole some lyrics from other bands? City of Devils- "City Lights Burn" ...also from Story of the Year's song Anthem of Our Dying Day Rough Landing Holly- Blink 182 sang about a girl named holly in their song "Easy Taget" and had the same idea Two Weeks From Twenty-About a boy going to the war in iraq. Green Day's "Wake me up when September Ends" is very similar to that. I really love Yellowcards sounds & have always been a fan of them. I just found that some of their song ideas & lyrics were lame because they seemed to be stolen.

It's definitely about a girl that the narrator can't forget. I had the same situation and I'm starting to see it come back with one particular girl. I screwed up, she never went out with me, she went out with all these other guys, I spent four years moping, I found out she got engaged and I was basically forced to get out of it. Funny because right after, the relationship broke off and we started talking again. So now I can't let her go because I read her blog posting and she's sad... though she never went out with me, I care about her smiling because it's all a girl that beautiful should do. I'll admit that I'd love to be the one that helps her out of this funk and maybe have a chance to take her out and show her the love she wants and deserves... but if it doesn't happen, I understand that it will be necessary to move along. Anyway, really great song though. Favorite on the album.

this song is SICK. sean rips it on the violin, the drums are lightning fast, and i think its one of ryans best performances on vocals.

(Quoted)Krissy 04: Actually it's not about a girl in particular...they said it before many times...none of the songs on the album were really written about a certain someone..the 'her' he is talking about is holly as in hollywood... Yup, most of their songs that I know of, even from the EP (Underdog), have been about Hollywood and California, in general. They talk alot about being homesick after heading off to LA to make it big. This seems ironic at first liston, seeing as they're from Jacksonville. Songs mentioning the above or mentioning going to CA: Rockstar Land, Back Home, Big Apple Heartbreak, City of Devils, Hollywood Died, Lights and Sounds, Ocean Avenue, their all about being homesick in California, and use characterization for that point. This song is amazing, although the vocal-less (sorry, I'm not too good with music terms) part seems much too rock and annoyingly similar to what I hear on alternative radio over and over every day. Nevertheless, it's an amazing song, a little like Gifts and Curses. Awesome.

alright so now that the greednday thing is out of the way... what excatly is this song about? he's found another girl who is there for him after a break up ("all she found was trouble in my eyes") and their relationship is starting to get serious ("She moves fast/Takes control") but he can't let his old girl go...? i'm assuming the plane crash is him and the old girl break up. so who is holly? the new girl or the old?

Ok, having a situation revolving around this song, I think it's just an honor that I get the first comment. This song, on my view, talks about this girl that he can't really forget, can't stop thinking about and talks about it with someone else. I have the exact same situation, where I treat my history teacher as my therapist and talk to her all about this girl, how I like her so much, how I hate the guy she's going out with, and how I wish I never screwed up in the first place and maybe we could have gone out instead.

Actually it's not about a girl in particular...they said it before many times...none of the songs on the album were really written about a certain someone..the 'her' he is talking about is holly as in hollywood... and to Kelsiops First of all the song 'City of Devils' has nothing to do with SOTY's lyrics "City lights burn" bcuz 'City of devils' is about Los Angeles...you know how it is nicknamed the "City of Angels"..well yellowcard is talking about all the negative things about LA..just like the lyrics "It's hard to find angels in hell" meaning LA is hell...sooo it has nothing to do with SOTY's lyrics..unless SOTY were singing about LA and how it's not such a great place afterall...and I don't think that's what they were singing about... Second...'Rough Landing, Holly' is about Hollywood..and Blinks 'Easy Target' is NOT about hollywood..if you would take the time and look up the meaning of the song you would find out it has nothing to do with Hollywood... For Example... The first, "Easy Target," tells the story of a high school kid who gets invited to a pretty girl's house, so he rides his bike there as quickly as possible, only to have her and a friend jump out of the bushes and soak him with a hose. He leaves sad and dejected. And...'Two Weeks From Twenty' and' Wake me up when September ends' are similar due to the fact that they are both about a guy who goes to the war...but umm ppl BEFORE Green Day have songs about the war also..sooo Green Day is not the first to come up with that idea...and they are certaintly not the last...the war is something that affects a lot of ppl...and that is why there tends to be more than ONE song about it..
